Liv

Six days passed slowly, Liv remained in bed for the majority of them only getting up to pour herself a cup of warm lemon tea hoping that' it'll cure her from the terrible flu.

Now, she was in full health, and the biggest worry on her mind was trying to plan this party between the humans and the shifters. She knew it could all go terribly wrong if one thing was out of place, so she was determined that everything would go perfectly.

She had been back at school for a few days now and was feeling much better. She had been texting Jace every day, it was becoming an addiction for her. An ache formed deep in her soul whenever she thought of him, thought of being with him. They'd known each other for two weeks and her dreams were full of his sapphire eyes.

"Liv," Kennedy snapped her fingers in front of Liv's face, "Are you listening to me?"

Startled, she shook her head snapping out of her daydream. Her auburn hair swished around her shoulders when she leaned on her palm facing her best friend

"Sorry, I was daydreaming."

"You've been very distracted lately." Kennedy sighed, nudging her shoulder "Don't leave me alone with these bimbos." She lowered her voice whispering in Liv's ear. They were sitting beside the cheerleaders, the usual group they sat with. Kennedy didn't hate them, she just hated the falsehoods that came with them. Liv was real, true, honest, and good.

"Are you thinking about your party?"

Her party. She'd been nervous about it all week. When she told Jace she hadn't been expecting his reaction. They had been talking all week, after exchanging numbers in class, they had been in constant communication. Liv did feel slightly guilty keeping it a secret from Kennedy but... Jace made her feel light, like she was weightless. She hadn't smiled this much for a long time.

"You're throwing a party," He grinned down the phone, pressing it closer to his ear walking away from the warriors practice session "Is this my formal invite?"

"Shut up," Liv groaned her lips stretching into a smile "You're invited and so are your friends."

"You're trying to start a war." His lips ached from grinning. He had been waiting for Liv to make a move. His heart stumbled at the idea of his mate actually wanting to see him. The bond wasn't as strong for her, she was ruled solely by her own emotions.

"I won't." She said confidently, her teeth chewed on her lips "Everyone just has to be on their best behaviour."

Liv was determined that would be the case. She had already warned Kennedy the same, who would rather drop dead than miss a party. So, Kennedy had agreed to be civil but made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with her brother.

"Liv?" Kennedy nudged her shoulder, her icy eyes were frozen solid "Can you listen! I'm trying to speak."

"Sorry...I'm just dis–"

"Distracted?" Kennedy sighed; her jaw clenched. "You're always distracted these days. Would it kill you to at least look interested?"

Narrowing her eyes, Liv turned to face her best friend. "Stop snapping at me Kennedy." Liv kept her tone low to not attract the attention of all the cheerleaders. "I'm tired so I'm daydreaming but I don't need to explain that to you."

"Stop being rude then and I'll stop snapping." The Ice Queen had frozen over, she glared at Liv. "Everyone's tired Liv, you're not special." Kennedy leaned back in her chair, stabbing her fork into her salad. Pursing her lips, Liv turned away from Kennedy feeling her eyes burn. Her phone pinged.

Jace: Are you okay? x

Looking across the cafeteria she saw his sapphire eyes staring back at her. He offered her a small smile. She traded a grin. Maybe she should be more subtle, the Ice Queen tracked her movements narrowing her own icy blue eyes.
