I pulled up about thirty yards down the road from where D and Normani were.

They must've gotten here well before I did. I couldn't miss the look of disdain on the girl's face when I got out the car, the expression bringing me a sense of accomplishment.

Ever since I made my full transformation, I've never been affected by the cold weather. I felt a sports bra and high waisted sweatpants were fitting, and seein' that the style choice made the bloodsucker uneasy was all the more reason to inwardly celebrate.

Feigning that I wanted to give them their privacy, I waited against my truck, activating my sonic hearing so I could hone in on their conversation. I was nosey like that.

"Wearin' a shirt seems like a foreign concept to her..." Mani uttered.

I smirked at the sly comment. Looks I do get under the ice princess's skin. I watched as D brought her close to him before gently pinching her chin.

"You should go," he said. "No rush, or anything. But I'm good."

She pulled him closer before wrappin' her arms around his torso, lookin' up at him.

"I hate bein' away from you..." she said softly.

She drew his lips to hers in a slow, sensual kiss. The whole display was fucking overkill, especially once she released a breathy moan as the kiss deepened.

And D just ate it up, tugging on her bottom lip right before the kiss ended. I couldn't even help the scowl on my face.

"Mmmm..." D groaned, biting his lip before burying his face in the crook of her neck, "...scratch that...maybe you can rush just a little bit..."

Normani giggled before kissing him three more times. Like...could this chick be anymore desperate for attention?

It's crazy how much I hate this whole situation. D and I would make way more sense. I've known him longer. And even though we never dated, we still loved each other.

Our entire relationship was built when we were kids. I'd die for him. And yet, she's the one who gets to love him the way I wanted to.

But as much grief thinking about it brought me, it instantly disappeared once I saw D turn around and meet my eyes.

His pupils held the type of warmth that could grab you and cherish you until you pass on to the next life. I wanted to drown in it until I had no air left to breathe.

"Hey," he smiled, pullin' me in for a hug.

"Hi..." I blushed, relaxing against his body as I hugged him back.

Not wanting to get too carried away in his warmth, D and I hopped in my truck before we started cruisin'.

"What you wanna do today?" I asked. "Bike? Hike? Hang? It's up to you. But tonight, we're goin' to a very chill party."

"Chill, huh?" he responded, smirking my way.

"Absolutely. You'll love it, though."

He chuckled.
