The next morning I woke up to someone staring at me. Knives had grown into the habit of staring me to wake, he'd rather not touch me if he could.
Irritated I sat up and let out a yawn as out of the corner of my eye he walked out of the room. A few seconds later Conrad walked in and smiled.
"Morning (Y/n), we don't have any tests for you today, but Knives wish's you accompany me to town."
I knew exactly why, that was because the other day I had accidentally caught fire to the stove and Knives got annoyed of leaving me unsupervised. Letting a silent chuckle at the memory I nodded and got ready.
He walked out and left me alone, standing up I stretched and put on some spare clothes I had laying on a chair.

The twin suns felt wonderful on my skin, it had been awhile since I had actually felt the warmth they provided. The wind was more than satisfactory and overall the day felt wonderful.
Entering the vehicle, Conrad, Legato, and I all went down into town. It was a while but on the way there I thought about all that had happened.
It seemed surreal, from the day I had been taken to now. Knives was a quiet man...very degrading and cruel...even then I still felt a sort of sympathy for the guy.
He may have not shown it but he did have an aura that said otherwise to his words. He had been hurt...badly. Now I wondered if my friends had been through the same...especially Vash.
Leaning back I watched as the town came into view, people were walking around smiling and looking out for each other. We parked away from the city and walked in, hiding our faces Conrad did most of the talking.
I wasn't aware of what exactly we needed but I was given the chance to scurry away.
"That's why I'm here now! I have no one to talk to and life has been weird!" I shouted huffing and leaning back onto the bench. The old lady beside me just nodded and gave a confused smile.
"I see..." she said. "Hon, I'd love to help but this story you're telling, sounds more like something from a book...are you alright?"
Shaking my head I sighed and gave a laugh. "I wish I could say I was ma'am—"

You talked to the older lady for a while longer before Conrad approached and took you away. He brought you to a shop and had you pick out anything you liked.
It was sudden but this was awfully nice of a man who kept experimenting on your body. Regardless you basked in the freedom you were given. Hours later you all returned to the ship and you were put back into your room.
Smiling you glanced down at the puzzle you had grabbed. This had to keep you distracted, at least for a bit before you ultimately burn it out of frustration.
You tried connecting some pieces together, smashing some of them, and then flipping off others. During this Knives and walked into your room and just watched.
He had grown used to watching you do relatively anything, he found it interesting, it added to his belief that humans were very ignorant to their surroundings, but you were different in that aspect.
You were a worse case.
You had no regard for your life, no respect for yourself and this pissed him off. Why didn't you defend yourself?
"Hah!" You smiled sitting up from the floor you were laying on. "I did it!" Beaming happily you looked at the puzzle, having finished the outside boarder all you had to do now was fill it up.
Knives looked curiously and let out a tiny smile. Feeling someone watching you, you glanced back and made contact with Knives.
His eyes stared into yours...and suddenly you felt...shy?
His gaze on you was different than before, like gazing at a rising sun...or watching snowfall for the first time.
His blue eyes flickered between the two of yours...feeling a giddy feeling in your stomach you gulped and gave him a smile.
"Hi— sorry was I being loud..?" You asked breaking the tension. He shook his head and just looked back at your puzzle. "What is that?" He asked.
You turned back and then at him. "You don't know what a puzzle is?" A surprise expression crosses your face as you grabbed a piece and then have him give you, his hand. (in marriage...I'm sorry)
"This is a puzzle piece; all you do is use all of its friends and put them together. That makes a whole picture like on this box!" You crawled over slightly and grabbed the box. (I forgot how to spell box while writing this— 😃)
Showing off the image, he nodded and took a better look at the puzzle. "How curious.."
Letting out a laugh you sat back down and just shrugged. "Why would this be interesting? What does it do?"
He asked, you just hummed and took the piece back. "It's a form of entertainment I guess. We humans don't have an all that much of an interesting life.." you said.
The mood turned slightly sour but he just let out a huff and turned to the door. "If you're hungry..there should be food for you in the kitchen. Don't be stupid and be careful." With his words he left and closed the door, leaving you a bit dumbfounded.

Knives didn't have to sleep, afterall he wasn't human. But this moment shared with just eye contact answered so many questions that had troubled his mind.
Why did the plants speak to you?
"She's their mother"
Why did he feel comfortable with you?
"You know her"
Why did he want to protect you so much?
"She's just like him"
Those eyes, held so much more than you could possibly comprehend.
It had been years after the accident, it was obvious you didn't know, but it ticked him off to know that you didn't remember.
Maybe it was for the better. The knives you used to know..had died.
All that existed now was a version of him that only cared for the survival of himself and his sisters. Nothing else mattered, no one else mattered, but you were like a light.
A light far from his grasp. He knew what you were but did you understand who you were?
Daughter of a woman who he had killed.
Mother to a race you weren't familiar with.
You were so much more than just a human.
You were (Y/n) Saverem, daughter of Rem Saverem, blessed by the Goddess Persephone, and the future of project SEEDS.
