You stumbled along the sand dunes attempting to avoid touching the lines that formed with the wind. In No man's land, the amount of people that went missing should concern you. you shouldn't be walking around here like a psychopath, yet you often found yourself in odd situations.

Mumbling to yourself you didn't hear the car that was approaching you from behind, the tires tearing up the sand, a horn blared you out of your thoughts and a split second later you were flying across the sky.

-

'Damn it Meryl, that's the second one today!!' The voice of a man shouted, you guessed it was to a woman named Meryl, the woman who hit you, and seemingly had hit someone else earlier as well.

You opened your eyes slightly, the twin suns light burning into your eyes. You were laying on the sand on top of someone's jacket.

You let out a groan letting them know you were still alive and someone still reactive enough to complain. "Look! They're moving!" the girl called out happily, clapping and running to you, she leaned down and gave you a smile as her eyes were filled with worry. Your eyes focused on her when suddenly you felt pain radiate from your back up to your neck. "Good lord...why?" You whispered rolling onto your stomach and lifting your head up. Meryl breathed in relief as you still could move.

There were 4 people looking down at you, one was the girl who you guessed was Meryl. The second was the man who you guessed was the one who yelled at her,  he had brown hair and a cigarette in mouth and beside him were two young men. One had blonde hair and a worried expression while the other had black hair and he was carrying a giant cross?

Who just carries a giant cross. Especially in the middle of the desert. Did he want to just up and die or something? You grimaced and he took notice. "You got a problem?" He spoke leaning down slightly. "With you and your tombstone, ahh cross? Yeah I do." You spat back sitting up, sand trailing in from in front of you.

Meryl chuckled and kneeled down. "Are you alright? I'm so sorry, I didn't see you and that one over there was being an ass!" She emphasized while glaring at him. "Wha-!? You are the driver, you should be paying attention shorty!" He retorted. "Both you shut up, don't you see this one right here is on the verge of passing out again?"

The brunette spoke which shut them both up, you gave him a thumbs up and laid back down on the jacket which didn't do too well on keeping the sand away from you. The blonde one kneeled down and gave you a smile. "Heya, I'm Vash. Sorry about everything today, are you feeling alright?" He waved and looked you over.

You rubbed your temple and looked at him. "I'm alright, I've been hit worse." You slurred out, you felt weak, and nauseous. This sun was killing you. "Hey, do you think you can take me somewhere...out of the sun?" You breathed out sitting back up and slumping over.

Vash hummed and looked at them. "Wolfwood help me get them in the car?" He asked. Wolfwood rolled his eyes and nodded. "Alright, fine."

Within a couple of minutes you were in the car, strapped in and in between the weirdo with the cross, and the blonde beauty. You weren't fully aware, but this marked the beginning of a really long, irritating, but fun journey.

You woke up again after a while, you head leaning against the weirdo with the cross. "Evening persephone. You got anywhere we can drop you off at?" He asked, his tone remotely calm as he glanced down at you. "What's up with the name?" You asked, lifting your head and sitting up straight. He shrugged. "It's the first thing I came up with."

Vash chuckled, making you glance over at him. "I guess you can travel with us, but there is a small town here if you wish not to."

Looking out the window you could see the lights and a few people still out but it was getting rather late. "I don't really have anywhere to go....if you don't mind I'll just stay with you guys." you spoke. Vash nodded and gave you a smile. "Sounds good. I'll be going my own way soon, but these guys can help you out."

You nodded and looked forward. "Hey Persephone, what's with the attire?" Wolfwood asked as he looked at your clothes. You were wearing a white dress that trailed all the way to your calves and a black jacket. "Ah, just the first thing I found before going out..." You said, not really sure yourself.

(Almost as if the author had no fucking clue what to say without offending someone and will leave it like that bc they don't care enough to ask everyone what they want.)

He nodded and looked out the window.

"Hey Kiddo what should we call you?" The brunette asked, realizing you still weren't familiar with him. "My name is (Y/n)", You said trying to find a comfortable position. "What about you?"

He nodded and gave you a small smile. "My name is Roberto, this one over here is Meryl, that blonde one there is Vash and well, he's Wolfwood. He introduced everyone while driving. "Forgive my student here, she's still new." He sighed, Meryl was asleep snoring away the conversations in the car.

"It's fine, I needed the wake up call anyways. I've been out there for the longest time." You chuckled. "Yeah if you don't mind, why is it that you were out there?" Vash asked curiously looking at you.

"Shit, I'm not even sure myself. I woke up a couple days ago in a random inn close to Jenora Rock. I went down there and the whole place was completely destroyed. I was threatened with a gun and I just ran instead of insisting because I do not have the patience or courage to keep asking." You spewed out.

Vash nodded slowly as he looked away. "Oh...I'm sorry about that." You yawned and shrugged. "It's not your fault, my luck has always been awful. I'm used to it."

It was silent for a while, a tension built within. "So...where exactly are you planning to go, Vash?" You finally broke the silence, glancing over at him. He didn't respond but let out a sigh. "I'm...visiting an old family member..."

It went silent again, then a thought came to mind. "Hey Roberto, I heard you yelling at Meryl earlier, about hitting someone else. Who was that..?" A choked out cough came from beside you.

Wolfwood had an embarrassed blush on his face. "I wouldn't worry about it. Ahem! The dude was in the way anyway." He defended and looked out the window. You weren't stupid nor were you blind to the obvious. "Mhm.. okay then."

You let out a chuckle and laid your head back onto the back of the car. The sound of the tires aiding you to sleep and your exhaustion over taking any other emotion. In a moment you were asleep.
