(Zayn's P.O.V)

When I saw her face I nearly stopped breathing. I had to talk to her. I had to see her again. So when the show ended I told the boys I had to find her. Harry shook his head

"You'll never find her, there were thousands of girls there just like her!" The other boys nodded and looked at me sympathetically. Louis looked puzzled.

"I don't get it Zayn, what is it about her? you've never even met her she could be horrible." I turned to Louis and spoke to him in a casual tone

"Who said I'd never met her?" That made Niall gasp, I looked around to see everyone else looking just as shocked as he was. I didn't have the time to explain, I had to find her before she went. I turned on my heel and sprinted out of the building. I ran past crowds of screaming girls begging me for an autograph, but I couldn't stop until I found her. It was just my luck that she hadn't gone home yet, I slowed down and stopped right behind her. She was talking to another girl, something about Niall, the other girl saw me and her jaw dropped. My heart skipped a beat when she turned around.

I didn't know what to say so I made up some crap about them winning an interview with the boys back stage. They seemed to fall for it and they followed me back to the arena. We got into the dressing room and I gestured for them both to sit down. My mouth had gone dry and I didn't know what to say. Harry came in and sat next to me, as did Niall. Liam and Louis had gone out signing peoples foreheads. I finally mustered up enough courage to speak.

"Ruby." I said

Ruby let out a terrified yelp. She started shaking and lifted her index finger to point at me.

"H..how do you,you know m..my n..ame?" I couldn't believe it, she didn't remember me? I was quite offended we used to spend every day together, how could she not remember me?

"You don't remember?" I asked. Ruby breathed slowly in and then out again.

"I don't remember a lot of things." she said in a timid voice.

"She got amnesia a few years ago, she's recovered but there are still some black spots in her mind," explained her friend- who I think was called Ceira. Niall put his head in his hands.

"I'm sorry how did Zayn know Ruby to start with?" I knew everyone else was thinking the same thing, even Ruby would be. I couldn't believe she'd gotten amnesia. Knowing her she probably tripped over her own feet. Back when we were in year seven she used to contaminate science labs from dropping test tubes. Once she was spinning around and she punched our English teacher in the face, but she wouldn't remember that if she couldn't remember me. I took a deep breath

"We were best mates for six years." There were yet more gasps.

"But surely, her friend here would have known." Harry said obviously thinking that there must have been a mistake. Ceira seemed to have an answer to that issue,

"No, I only met her a few months ago she used to go to, was it Tong High School?" I nodded, it was definitely her, the girl who a few years ago meant everything to me, it all fitted.

Ten minutes later Paul -our body guard walked in- and he didn't look happy. Shaking his head he addressed Ruby and Ceira:

"No girls, go home, you're not allowed back here." He was a great bodyguard but I wished he would let us meet the fans more. I tried to explain why they were back here but he wasn't having it. The girls reluctantly stood up and turned to leave. I saw something slip out of Ruby's hand and onto the floor. A mobile phone.

"Ruby you dropped your phone!" I said. She had already left. Then I understood, if I had her phone I'd have to see her again. I smiled at her intelligence, she may have been clumsy, but she was always smart.

(Ruby's P.O.V)

I couldn't believe that I used to be Zayn Malik's best friend! I was almost certain he'd made a mistake, but he seemed so sure, and It seemed to make sense. I dropped my phone on the way out so he'd want to find me again. I had to talk to him, I had to know more. As soon as we left the arena Ceira found a pay phone and rung our friend Imogen. We had promised that we'd give her regular updates but this one was going to be a bit more interesting than the previous text messages and phone calls. I looked at my watch and gasped.

"Ceira the concert finished an hour ago!" I said "We have to get back!" Ceira quickly said goodbye to Imogen and unwillingly hung up. We were staying in the same hotel so we ran back together somehow figuring out the way. Ceira and I went into our hotel rooms and said goodbye. My mum was lying- asleep- on the bed. I tiptoed over to my suitcase, unzipped it and peeled of my one direction t-shirt and navy blue disco pants and stepped into my onzie. I snuggled under the covers and rummaged for my book ,opened it on page ninety-three and let my eyes scan the top of the page.

I read three chapters before my eyes became tired so I found an old receipt to use as a bookmark, slipped it inside the pages and placed the book neatly on the bed side table. I rested my head on the pillow (there had originally been two huge fluffy ones but they say too many pillows can give you a double chin). I closed my eyes and soon enough I was in a deep sleep.
