"Don't you ever talk to her like that ever again!" Mitch sputtered out, his voice raging with anger.

"Oh now you have a wise ass to stick up for you?" Scott sneered at me while I ran down the hallway.

That was the last thing I could hear. The roaring in my ears was increasing minute by minute.

And the tears didn't stop flowing. I collapsed onto the bed and pulled a pillow over my head.

What is going on? Everything is happening all to fast! I don't understand why this is happening. It's senior year, this is supposed to be all fun and happiness. Not crumpled spirits. The crying started to let up and I let out a hearty sigh.

"Oh god this is not a good start to my summer." I said with a quivered voice. The party seemed to carry on with the base thumping and chatter. I sat up and fumbled for my phone. Pushing my disheveled hair out of my face, I texted my mother.

*hey mom! I'm having a fabulous night:) I'm sleeping over at Natalie's, is that okay? Please?*

*hi Auden, that's okay with me. Have a good night and make wise choices. See you tomorrow, love you! Love, mom*

Ugh I hate lying to my mom, but what can I do? I rolled over to my side. One final tear left my eye and with that, I was off to dreamland.

{ about 2 hours later }

I awoke to muffled voices coming from the living room. Seems like the party was officially over. I pushed myself out of bed to see what was going on. I only managed one step and fell face first onto Natalie's butt.

"What are you doing ?!" I whispered shouted heaving myself up.

" teeheeeeheee." She replied with a giggle. "I'm sorry! I didn't want you to stay in here by yourself." " I came in to check up on you and you were out cold" she finished with a shrug.

"Oh. Well thanks. I appreciate that Nat."

I really did have the best friend ever. I should have figured that she would come back. Natalie is so sweet and caring. We have been best friends since pre- school! That's a awful long time. But I'm glad to spend all those years with her by my side.

"Um Natalie I told my mom I was sleeping over...is that okay?" I asked her with hopeful eyes.

"Sure! Girl, you know you can crash at my place whenever. I got your back." Natalie gave me a wink and a little shimmy.

"Oh gosh thank you so much." I heaved a relied sigh. As I walked over to open the door Natalie called out.

"Wait! Well someone is still here." She started a little nervous. She widened her eyes as if she was telling me who it was.

I gave her a quizzical look and opened the bedroom door. Low and behold, it was my knight in shinning armor. Well for tonight that is.

He looked down at me and gave me a look that made my insides swirl. That smirk.

I fumbled with my hair and tried to move past him. Mitch gave way and let me pass without ease . But first Nat motioned me. Ohhhhh! Mitch was the person! Wait..why? I mouthed her why and she answered with a typical shrug.
