Rahab

Have you heard about her
The arm stretched out from the city wall
Beaconing, welcoming passersby
To her city, her home, her bed, her arms

Despised by the younger women
Better than her they think themselves
Abhorred by the the men by day
While they sneak into her chambers at night

She waited, she persevered, she plotted
Arms open she embraced opportunity
When the city walls in rumble descended
Whore Rahab survived, inheritance allotted

Amongst women who didn't judge
Among men who didn't belittle
She started afresh, slate clean
Becoming a wife, a mother, a legend
