The following Saturday went by in a blur. Y/n mostly stayed inside the whole day, either napping, unpacking, or reading. There wasn't much to do here, she was now finding out. In the late afternoon, close to dinnertime, Missy came knocking on the door. Y/n opened it to a pleasant surprise.

"Missy! What're you doing here?"

"My mom wanted to know if you wanted to have a sleepover!!"

"Oh, it's getting kind of late.."

"That's okay if you can't-"

"No no, I want to! Let me ask, wait right here."

Y/n hurried back inside, rushing through the house. Normally she wouldn't run, since the floors were freshly polished and she was wearing only socks, but she was extremely eager to get out of the house.

"Mooooom!"

"Why are you yelling??"

Y/n hadn't realized she had come into the kitchen where her mom was washing dishes. She skidded to a halt, turning to face her mom.

"Can I go spend the night at Missy's house?"

"Well hold on now. Are her parents okay with it?"

"I mean, she came over here, so I'd have assume so."

"Well.. in that case, I guess it's alright. But be home before dinner tomorrow!"

"Okay, bye, thanks mom, love you!!"

Y/n was already hurrying back to the front door, very excited to have her first sleepover first in Medford, and second of the school year. She met Missy at the door, grinning from ear to ear.

"She said yes!!"

"Perfect! Come on!"

She just assumed she wouldn't need anything, and if she did she could hurry back over here in a jiffy. She jogged with Missy to the Coopers' house, giggling the whole way just like Missy. When they entered the house, the familiar smell hit her nose, but instead of meatloaf it was more turkey hinted. The dim yellow lights calmed her in a way she couldn't describe. She was happy here, even if it was only her second time visiting.

After giggling in Missy's room about nonsense, Mary eventually called them for dinner. Once they were seated at the table in their usual spots, Mary brought out the turkey, which smelled even better up close. This whole time Y/n had been sneaking glances out of her peripheral at Sheldon, who was wearing something painstakingly similar to what she had last seen him in.

TIMESKIP TO AFTER DINNER

Missy practically dragged Y/n to her room after dinner was done and they had been excused from the table. She got all her nailpolishes out and laid a towel down on the bed, which also had a few Sassy magazines scattered along the sheets. She instructed Y/n to sit on the opposite side of the towel from her, and had her pick a color or multiple colors.

After a few hours of goofing off and Missy having her nails painted too, they were all done. Y/n had chosen blue nails with some yellow designs Missy managed to somewhat get with the help of some scotch tape and a small paintbrush. The job on the edges wasn't the best though, and Y/n did no better on Missy's.

"Hey, Y/n, can you go grab the nail polish remover from the bathroom? It's in the cupboard next to Sheldon's many medications. I'll get the mini fan out."

Y/n got up off the bed, stretching her limbs out first. She had been sitting hunched over, which did not do her back any miracles whatsoever. After doing that, she left the room, dragging her feet down the hallway. Her eyes suddenly began to feel heavy and droopy. She rubbed then with her wrists, not wanting to ruin her new manicure.

She flipped on the very clean bathroom's light, taking it in. She checked the secret cupboard behind the mirror, to which she found no nail polish remover, but only Sheldon's medication. She then moved to the cupboard beneath the sink, where she found more of Sheldon's things. However, upon some digging, she finally found the remover she was looking for, and she shut it and stood to leave.

However, she found her way blocked on the way out. She ran headlong into somebody who had just went to enter the bathroom. She did not get knocked over, only stumbled back a few steps. She looked back up to see Sheldon standing there, looking as he always did.

"Hello Y/n."

He was now wearing a cute set of pinstriped pajamas, which fit him perfectly in every way. His hair was a little messy, which she found very attractive for some reason unknown to herself. He simply gazed at her, unmoving, like a statue. A very cute statue.

"Sheldon. What's got you up so late?"

"My bathroom schedule has been havoc as of recent. My bladder has not been cooperating, especially not after starting puberty."

"You just started puberty-?"

"Well, not very recently. Last year. But it is still affecting me negatively."

"Oh. Uhm.. good to know?"

Sheldon curiously looked around the bathroom, including at the bottle of nail polish remover in Y/n's hand, and then to her nails.

"Are you and Missy painting each other's nails?"

"Uh, yeah. Just messing around."

"I kind of like yours."

"Kind of?"

"Yes, kind of. The star designs are not accurate. Did you know real stars are intricate celestial bodies made up mostly of Hydrogen and Helium, and there are over 100 billion of them in the whole Milky Way?"

"No, I did not. That's-.. fascinating..!"

"Stars are luminous balls of gas held together merely by their own gravity, and are many lightyears away, so humans may never know what true shape they take."

He began to get even more in depth than he already was. She was already lost, not following anything he was saying anymore. He was so deep in his own thoughts and narration he didn't even realize. However, it was very calming to watch his lips move and his eyes brighten when he came across something that very much intrigued him, and to watch him frown and scowl at thin air when he spoke about something that confused him. The expressions he made when talking about science were more than she had ever seen him use when talking about anything else. Though she had not known him long at all, but she felt she had already known him for years.

After a long 20 minute one sided discussion about many things, all science related, he finally came to a close. Y/n had been softly smiling the whole time, which, for some reason, confused Sheldon.

"Why are you smiling? Is something funny?"

"No, nothings funny Sheldon. Just.. you."

"Me what?"

"Nothing, Sheldon."

"But, you said y-"

"I said nothing Sheldon!"

"Right-o."

"I'd better be off to bed. You should be too."

Y/n suddenly decided she wanted to do something dangerous. She went to pass next to him, and stopped right before she had. She turned and leaned over, planting a firm kiss right on his cheek, which was already surprisingly warm. She then dragged a hand along his shoulder while walking by, taking in the feeling of his cotton nightshirt. Once she was in Missy's doorway, she couldn't help but glance back at Sheldon, who was now watching her go with an open mouth and a very, very red face.
