Hey yall this is mostly a background on Y/n chapter not a lot happens you can skip it if you so desire
Y/n woke up the next morning sprawled across Missy and her bed. She was on her stomach, in a starfish pose. When she realized she was practically suffocating her, she rolled off groggily, almost falling off of the bed. She had now accidentally woken Missy up, who groaned and rubbed her eyes, wiping the sleep away.
Y/n decided to get up now, allowing Missy a bit more sleep. She stood, reaching up as high as she could, stretching. She yawned wide, now dragging her feet to the bathroom. She noticed the door was shut, so she knocked thrice. There was a bit of rustling and the sound of a cabinet door shutting, before the door opened. She found herself staring at the chest of Georgie, and when she realized, she directed her gaze upwards to meet his eyes.
"Oh, sorry, hope I din't keep ya waitin' too long."
"Oh, no, not at all!"
They awkwardly shuffled past each other in the small hallway, exchanging positions. Y/n shut the door behind her, forgetting the awkward encounter she just had.
After she had done her business, which included using the bathroom, brushing her hair and teeth, etc., she headed back to Missy's room, finding it now empty. She saw the bed was very tousled, so she decided to make it quickly, just wanting to do this nice little favor for Missy.
When she made it to the breakfast table, mostly everybody was already seated, except for Mary, of course, who was the one making breakfast. Once she sat, she said good morning to everybody, but when she said it to Sheldon, he only gave a small nod, which was unusual for him. He typically gave a formal and proper good morning, and fully acknowledged her presence. But today, that wasn't the case.
She couldn't pinpoint why he could be acting like this. She hadn't done anything wrong, had she? And now that she looked a little closer, his usual rosy cheeks were a deeper shade of pink that usual. Then, she remembered.. she had been going to the bathroom, and had come across Sheldon. She had been walking past him, and then she had kissed his cheek. That must be what he's acting so weird about.
Since she couldn't tell if he was uncomfortable around her now or was just simply embarrassed about it, she decided not to question or acknowledge it any further than she had already. She ate her eggs and bacon in silence once Mary had brought it to the table.
After breakfast, Y/n decided it was about time to head home after a bit more time goofing off in Missy's room. She did have schoolwork to catch up on for Monday, after all. She bid Missy farewell sadly, hugging her tightly before exiting the door. Mary had sent some leftovers from last night's dinner along with her, telling her to tell her mom she is welcome to come over for dinner any time she wants. At the time, she had told Mary she would, but she might not pass along the message. Her mother tends to get a bit.. panicky at the idea of going over to someone elses house, let alone leaving her own.
She set down the heavy dish of turkey on the kitchen counter, allowing the warmth from the bottom of it to leave her hands. She announced to whoever was listening that she was home, wandering around the house. She finally found her mom in bed, fast asleep, the place where her dad had been a slight dip in the mattress that the blankets had been removed from. He had taken the time to tuck her in extra well before his departure, hopefully ensuring that she would sleep in longer.
She sighed and smiled softly, glad her mother wasn't having troubles sleeping in anymore. She exited the bedroom, carefully shutting the door as silently as she could before heading down to the living room. She turned on the tv, flipping it to a random channel that caught her interest for more than 2 seconds. She sat, watching for more time than she would like to admit.
When she snapped awake, the first thing she did was check the time, for it was now dark inside. It was 6 o'clock, which meant her dad should be home any minute. She grinned wide, forgetting the fact she had just napped for about 5 hours. As soon as she had finished shaking the stiffness out of her limbs, she heard the front door open, and heard her dad's rich voice announcing his arrival. She ran over and hugged him tightly, taking in this unfamiliar moment.
She had a nice long conversation with him that night. They sat on the couch and talked for a solid hour. Her mom had wandered in at some point, sitting with them, rubbing the exhaustion from her eyes.
Later that night, after everyone had gone to bed, she stayed up, gazing at the ceiling. Too many thoughts were running through her head, she just couldn't close her eyes. She decided to get up and grab a glass of water, sipping on it and letting the chill water sooth her. She gazed out the window, leaning on the counter. She stared up into the dark sky full of stars, counting as many as she could before she got bored. She then became tired doing this, setting her glass in the sink and slinking back to her bedroom. She laid down, letting her settled thoughts coerce her to sleep.
