"smooth seas never make good sailors, clear skies never make good pilots. Easy and problem-free lives never make good people. So don't ask life," why me?" instead say "try me!"

It was a cold December morning, and Kristine, Eros and Blake were lazily resting on Lucy's bed. Kristine stretched her arm and yawned.
"I need a hibernation", she said. Lucy laughed. "No seriously. I need a vacation.. It's really boring here.."
"I know, you're right", Lucy said. "So much has happened in the past few days, we need a break from all of it.. Perhaps go somewhere, see the snowfall", she said, dreamily.
"America's snowfall was amazing.. I kind of miss it", Blake said.
"Yeah, it might have been. I haven't seen it myself", Eros added. Kristine got up from the bed and grinned.
"YES! AMERICA! Why didn't I think of this before? It's Christmas next week and there couldn't be a better place than America to celebrate it!", she said. Lucy looked at her in surprise. Eros reciprocated his surprise towards Kristine.
"Well, now that you come to think of it, it isn't a bad idea", Blake said, placing his hand on his chin. "It's been long since I visited America too".
Eros and Kristine looked at each other. Christmas, America, snowfall.. didn't look like a bad idea after all..
"Well, okay then!", the four of them shouted in unison. They ran down the stairs altogether, bumping into each other in their excitement. Blake held Lucy, preventing her from falling and protecting her. She smiled and thanked him.
"MOM!", Lucy shouted.
"Mrs. Goodwin!", the other three joined. Mrs. Goodwin came out and looked at them questioningly.
"Mom, could we go to America this week? It's Christmas next week so it'll be real fun", Lucy said, with a pleading look on her face. Mrs.Goodwin thought for a while and then nodded.
"We could but I think--", she began.
"THANK YOU!", the four of them screamed in unison, hugging her, before she could even finish. Then they rushed back to her room.
"So, it's fixed then. Let's leave this Friday! There's so much to do--", Kristine began.
"Whoa whoa, Kristine. We need to talk to our parents too", Eros said, trying to calm her down. Kristine flapped her hand in the air, shaking her head.
"I, Kristine Schwartz, assure you, Eros Parker that out parents will agree. You concentrate on packing!", she said, pulling her downstairs. Lucy and Blake looked at each other and laughed.
And true to her word, Kristine convinced all their parents for the trip. Lucy marvelled her qualities.
so it was packing time.

That evening, Lucy sat down on the bed and manoeuvred the clothes into the suitcase. Blake came in behind her.
"Done packing?", he said.
"Yep, nearly. A little left", she said, turning and facing him. "How about you?"
Blake shook his head. "No, but I guess I just need you. And I'm done. You're the only thing I need by my side, Lucy", he said.
A crescent smile spread across Lucy's face, as she blushed. Blake smiled at her gesture. The room was dim now, only a little light coming from the now orange sky. Lucy's face glowed in the light.
"What do you have there?", she said, bending to see what Blake had behind his back. She noticed it was a guitar.
"You play the guitar?", she said, impressed.
He nodded. "Yes, I was just composing a song.."
"Could you play it for me, Blake?", she asked.
"Off I could, Lucy", he replied. He placed his guitar on his thighs and started playing a soft, slow tune. Lucy smiled, looking at him, as the air slowly filled up with his notes, with his warmth. And gradually, to Lucy's surprise, Blake began to sing.
"It was cold without your shadow,
lonely without your light;
You made my heart burn with love,
you make it all so bright.
You the wind in my skies,
the one I love, I one for whom I care;
you were there with me forever, and i am glad;
You gave me a hand in every moment, happy and sad.."
Lucy's eyes filled up in tears. Blake's voice was beautiful, and it enveloped the air like a cloud, filled with warmth and love, so strong, that she wanted to be there forever. She struggled to see through her teary eyes. Blake noticed her and stopped.
"hey, what's wrong?", he said, wiping off the tear from her cheek. She shook her head.
"Don't stop", she said,"Please". Blake smiled, a smile so filled with love and understanding, that Lucy wished she could freeze the time right here. He began again, slowly. Lucy closed her eyes and gently drifted into his rhythm, into his notes and his voice. She wanted to be there forever, she wanted the time to stop. Even though her body was still, her soul was dancing from within. Blake's words meant so much more than they sounded, effected in such a way that Lucy could never imagine.
And while the sun set outside, Lucy's heart rose. It rose with love and affection, with music and joy, with warmth and trust. She fell deeper for him, and with every second that passed, his voice slowed. And as it slowed, it burst with emotions, ambushed with love. Tears of joy fell from her eyes, and when he finally stopped, Lucy could just smile.
The room was now silent, though it was bursting with the sound that Blake no more played. It was filled with a thousand words and notes.
"Thank you, Blake", was all that Lucy said. They looked at each other in silence. Because sometimes silence is the key to a thousand words, to the voice to a thousand songs, the emotions to a thousand unsaid feelings. Lucy shifted closer to Blake and placed her head on his shoulder, embracing him.
And they remained that way, because it was all they needed. All they needed was each other, and other things just fell into place. Just silently, in each other's warmth did they remain.

On friday, Lucy, Blake, Eros , Kristine and their families boarded the plane. They all looked thrilled and exhilarated.
"I'm so excited", Kristine exclaimed as the plane took off.
"So , it's America this time", Lucy said.
"Yes, this time it's my chance to make it work", Blake replied. Lucy looked and him and held his hand.
"It's always you who makes it work", she said.
All of them looked out of the window, waiting for what was coming next.
And they needn't have worried. Because what was coming next, was, certainly very happy.
