" If you live to be a hundred, I want to be a hundred minus one day; So that I never have to live without you" ~ A.A.Milne, Winnie the Pooh

Lucy sat down on the sofa with Eros and Kristine. It was Blake's turn to give her a present now.
"So it's through small messages?, Lucy said, opening a small note that she'd found. Kristine and Eros stood behind her, waiting, staring at the note.
merry Christmas Lucy!
This is a way to express my love,
It's my turn now,
So the next note is with the dove.
"The dove.. Where's the dove?", Lucy said, getting up. Eros and Kristine went upstairs ,searching while Lucy looked around. "Dove.. dove", she murmured.
"Lucy! Come up ! It's here", Kristine shouted in excitement, waving to her. Lucy sped upstairs. It lay beneath the statue of a dove.
"Thank you!", Lucy said, as she opened the note. A rose fell down from it.
A rose for the rose of my life,
The one without whom I wouldn't want to be alive,
I'm bad at rhyming, so I'm sorry for that,
The next note lies where we usually have a chat.
Lucy laughed as she read it aloud to them. They joined in, and then started searching the hall, near the fireplace.
"Where did he hide it?", Kristine remarked , as they bent down to look under the sofa, the chairs and even under the tables.
"Here", Eros said, taking it out from behind a pillow on the sofa. "Thank you", Lucy said, opening it.
It won't go too long now, just one more
This one's really special.
You searched the sofa, you found the dove,
The next one lies with the person who you perhaps love?"
Lucy smiled. "The next one's with Blake". Eros and Kristine had already fled off to find Blake.
"Now where's Blake?", Eros said, annoyed, after searching the whole house, shouting 'Blake' every time. Lucy and Kristine looked and each other and sighed.
"Attic!", Lucy said, moving upstairs. And true enough Blake was there. He was sitting here, on a trunk, with his head down. When he saw her, he got up and handed her a small box, with a note on top of it . Lucy smiled. Eros and Kristine looked at him and smiled. He looked so happy. Lucy opened the note.
Well done. Now you finally receive your gift,
I hope it makes your heart lift.
This gift is special, it is for the person, inside whom I reside,
I belong to you, Lucy, because it's you with whom ,
my heart lies.
Lucy looked at him with a pleasant smile spread across her face. Then, she slowly opened the box.
It revealed a small showpiece, inside which were two people, the boy with a black tuxedo, and the girl with a white gown. "play me" was engraved in the corner. Lucy pressed the button. And inside, they danced, twirling in one place, and much to her surprise , it was the same song that Blake had sung for her in which they were twirling.. Her eyes glistened in moisture. Blake smiled.
"Merry Christmas, Lucy", he said.
"Merry Christmas, Blake", she replied, smiling through her tears.

That night, Blake went to Lucy's room. Kristine wasn't there, Eros and Kristine were having their own time for some time. Lucy was sitting there, reading a book, smiling.
"Lucy?", he said. She looked up.
"Yes?"
He went towards her. "I need you to come with me" . She got up, walking with him, hand-in-hand.
"Where are we going?"
"Outside. I have something to show you", he said. Lucy followed him, looking at him as they went outside. Blake brought her to a dark place, under the night sky. The place was isolated, with snow covering the trees and the ground. Lucy looked at the discrete grids of the sky and around the place in awe.
"Ready?", he said. She nodded. Blake smiled, and gestured her to look up at the sky.
She looked up. And she couldn't believe it. Thousands of sky lanterns flew up in the sky, all together , filling it with light . They floated together, so many of them, it seemed as if someone had sprinkled magic dust across the sky. Lucy looked so happy as she looked at them flying.
"Lucy, take this", Blake said, handing her a lantern. She took it, the smile never vanquishing from her face. Blake handed a match , and she lighted the lantern. She noticed that both their lanterns had their names engraved on it.
They held their lanterns together and let it fly in the air. They smiled at each other, and both of them made the same wish. I wish we are together, always.
"Hey Lucy, look", he whispered to her. "Our lanterns are flying together."
Lucy looked at him. "They would, Blake. Because they're meant to be together". Her voice was mellifluous, like water trickling over smooth rocks.
Blake's face lightened up with a smile. It lightened up brightly, brighter than the lanterns too. Lucy realized it was the most beautiful experience she's ever had. And as for Blake's smile? She realized it was the only thing she needed to be happy.
Because, when you're in love, it's the smile that matters. Because that's how it works. It's kind, it's patient, and, it's beautiful.
