Home redecoration chapter,
expect nothing but good vibes and a show of my somewhat okay describing skills. As I stumble back from the hardware store with an army of shopping trolleys full of supplies, I make eye contact with the neighbour on the left of my house, a weirdo with highlighter pink hair and green glasses who stared down judgingly from his window at me. I waved.
Since all the clothes in my closet currently are hideous, I can wear whatever and not have to worry about ruining it with paint or blood. So I got to work, painting the outside of my house, the bricks I painted to a smooth gray and the wooden panels and slats I painted a soft mint green, I painted the windowsills a bright white and installed two empty window boxes to the front and side windows before I made my way inside.
In the entrance hall I painted the walls a soft, welcoming sunshine yellow. The living room a rich, majestic purple with a wood feature wall to tie the floor in with the rest of the room. The kitchen was painted a soft coral colour and the tiles were painted to a matching checkerboard, as was the dining room, the wooden kitchen countertops were quickly thrown out and switched to white marble with thin golden painted veins. The lightbulbs were all replaced with warm white with LED strips lining the places that the light from the bulbs above would not reach. The main bathroom was painted a watery blue and the plain white tiles were stripped and replaced with a faux stone tile in a light gray colour, there was no need to replace the sink as it's white basin tied in well with the rest of the room. The laundry room was painted a warm, bright orange and the appliances were all exchanged for black ones that made better ending tunes such as the absolute banger "pop! goes the weasel," or, "mary had a little lamb."
Then it was time for the upstairs, which first of all was connected to its own seperate room in the lower floor, so the landings could be a nice colour of their very own. So both the upstairs and downstairs landing were painted a turquoise to aqua gradient, with the lightest shades on the second floor landing and the darker shades on the ground floor level, a bookshelf and reading nook was installed under the stairs and a modernised chandelier hung above the stairs in the centre of the room, creating a statement piece to catch the eye of all those who dare climb the stairs.
Finally, the bedroom and ensuite, the last rooms for painting before the new furniture goes in, the walls to the bedroom were painted black and spray painted with neon stencils to add star patterns to the walls, mostly neon pinks, oranges, a greens and blues though, neon yellow is a bit too strong to use too much... which is why it was used for the moon phases above where the bed would go and for the doorframe connecting to the ensuite. The ensuite was painted crimson, the white tiles were again discarded and swiftly replaced by striking black and white checkerboard tile.
Finally, the painting of the rooms was done, so then by the magical power of fanfiction the rooms were all furnished- no, we aren't done yet. Keep reading my decorating. -Alex (author)
All the rooms had floating shelves installed on the walls, which were all covered in plants and scented candles that would never be lit. The enterance hall got a shoe rack, the living room got soft, colourful furniture, a big tv and a personality. The kitchen got new appliances, the bathrooms got nothing... the dining room got comfier chairs and art on the walls, the laundry room got a rug to sit on and stare at the washing as it spins, the landing got books, and the bedroom got a bed, a desk, a love seat, a gaming setup, a minifridge, a vanity table, and a garden flamingo and inflatable dinosaur named Jerry.
"FINALLY" I grumbled, washing the paint out of my hair and nails, and removing the paint splattered clothes to clean my toned body, after I was done I realised I had forgotten to bring a change of clothes so I quickly wrapped a towel around me and sped into my bedroom, shutting all the windows as not to traumatise the neighbours as I quickly pulled on clean clothes.
