Something told Hiro that his little kid act wouldnt work on this 'no name' so he decided to get into the battle.
No names pod rolled onto the ground, and Hiros bot stood up.
All of a sudden, the pod opened, a loud screech from it.Everyone gasped, as a shiny spider like robot emerged from the metal pod, scuttling around speedily.
Apparently No Name had gone for the small and harmless looking bot trick like himself, and hiro smirked, as the shiny spiderlike robot crawled on speedy legs around hiros bot.And laid more pods.
Hiros eyes went wide, as one by one they begun to hatch.
Okay, he thought carefully. He had to take them out one by one.
"Megabot, destroy!" Hiro yelled. The bots face turned a vicious looking red, separating and snapping the spiders arms. They just kept multiplying and getting bigger, which was tricky, but hiros bot had something the spiders didn't have.Flexibility.It could split and regroup, snapping and breaking the spiders. There were yells and cheers from the crowd, as megabot began to take out most of the spiders.
There were three left, just them and mega bot.
The three mechanical spiders grouped together began to weave a strangely metallic looking web.As hiros bot tried to get past it, the bot flew back, obviously harmed by the strange substance of the web.
It had burned through hiros bot, leaving a hole.
He had to get past it somehow! He decided the only option he had was to jump, praying megabot could jump high enough.
And it did.Soaring over the web, megabot split and snapped the spiders, breaking them flawlessly.
The crowd screamed, gasps and cheers and yells.
The game was over.Hiro had won."This cant be..." The tattooed game host shook his head in disbelief, gaping.
"Kid..You just defeated the undefeated!" The man yelled, grabbing hiros hand and lifting it in victory.
"Whats your name again, kiddo?"
"Uh..Hiro.."
"Our winner, HIRO!"Hiro grinned nervously, the crowd cheering.
He took the money, people staring enviously.
He looked at no name, who was staring at him.
He saw their eyes, the only things partly visible.Although shaded by the hood, hiro saw two large /eye/colour/ eyes, long lashes, blinking furiously.
They turned away quickly, walking off with their broken pieces of robot, making sure to stay in the shadows.
Hiro suddenly felt bad.
He stared after them, as they began to jump from the walls in the alley, agile and fast.
They had some kind of high-tech shoes which made them suspend from the ground as they ran.It looked like they were flying, actually.Maybe they were."Dudeee! Do you even know who that was?!" A young boy with an afro asked, looking at Hiro as if he was his new idol.
"Uh..no" Hiro said honestly, staring after the figure. He had the sudden urge to go and follow them.
"Theyre famous! Like, No one has EVER beat them! No one even knows who they are!" The kid with the afros friend said in awe.
Hiro didnt reply, but he ran, ran after the shadowy figure into the dark.
"Hey! No name!" Hiro yelled. The figure didn't stop, but kept moving, not looking back at him.Hiro ran, with all his might, catching up to them fast.
"Im sorry i broke your bots.Did.. Did you need that money?"
Hiro asked, pulling out the folded money.
The figure stopped and looked at him.
"You can have the money.I dont mind, i dont need it.I just came out tonight since i was..kinda bored.Who are you?" Hiro asked curiously.Suddenly the person whipped off their bandana, tugging down their hood.It was a girl.Surprisingly, she was young, maybe a year or so older than Hiro.Something about her looked oddly familiar to him.
"You're..a girl? Huh..." Hiro asked, awed.
"Yes, you sexist dipshit!" She snapped.
"Sexist? No n-no no! I didnt mean-" Hiro stammered, only to be cut off by the mystery girl."Listen here kiddo.I needed that money to pay for my school bills, and for food. You botfight for fun. Some people, including me- botfight to survive." She hissed.
"Well, take it! I dont care!" Hiro yelled, thrusting the money at her, angrily.
"Shut up!" She snapped, pushing him fiercely into a dark corner, and following him, as a group of guys wandered down the alley, holding bots and talking under their breath.
The two stayed in the dark till they were gone, and then the girl let out a deep breath Hiro could feel on his neck.
He shivered, glad of the darkness here, as he was blushing a little."Are you sure you dont need the money?" She asked, facing him.
"No..im fine.I can earn more.I dont really need it right now anyway" He said, dismissivley. He held the money out, and she took it, hesitantly.
"Thank you" She said quietly, putting it away in her pocket.
"Its fine." Hiro said.
"Say..you-uh..look kinda familiar.." Hiro said, trying to keep up conversation."I have no idea what you're talking about." She said icily.
Hiro flinched.
"Ah..okay." He whispered.
She was incredibly intimidating.
Ugh, since when did he act this wimpy around girls?!
He mentally smacked himself. The girl began to walk away, up a rickety old staircase, leading to alleyway bars and houses.
He watched after her, awed.
"By the way, Hiro, don't tell anyone about the money..i do have a reputation to keep up" She chuckled.
"Anyway...Ill see you again, maybe" she shrugged, pulling her bandana up, along with her hood.
"B-bye" hiro called after her, dumfounded as she jumped onto the railing of the stairs, climbing effortlessly onto the roof.He watched her disappear as she climbed the rooftops and ran through the cities alleyways, swallowed up by the dark of night.
He felt bad, he supposed, that she must be really poor if she needed the money so bad.
Or...Maybe she didn't need the money. Her bot seemed very expensive and her shoes looked high tech.
Maybe she went to a robotics school and made them herself. He certainly hadn't seen them anywhere. But everything about her before and after the whole money fiasco just seemed so effortlessly cool yet threatening.
She just..oozed badass.
Realising he was still standing in the dark alleyway, staring at the spot she had just leapt to the roof from, he shook his head.He would never see her again, most likely.
So he set off home, shocked and partly disappointed by the night he just had.
