“Dad?”
Taehyung’s voice slipped out, laced with surprise, as his eyes landed on his father standing there with Yunji. He hadn’t expected the two to arrive together.
Yunji’s giggles filled the space, her tiny hands reaching toward Jungkook. The older leaned down, his smile softening as he gathered the little girl into his arms. He kissed her chubby cheeks over and over, each peck drawing another burst of laughter from her lips.
Taehyung watched the scene quietly, his heart tugging in a way he couldn’t quite put into words. The way Jungkook held her, so natural, so gentle, it was a sight that made something unspoken flicker in his chest.
Mr. Kim stood back, observing in silence. And in that moment, he understood everything. The affection, the bond, the unspoken truth that tied his son and Jungkook together.
“Ahem...” his deliberate cough broke through the tender atmosphere, his tone calm yet reminding “I’m still here...”
“Come inside first,” Taehyung said gently, guiding them toward the living room. He excused himself soon after, carrying Yunji upstairs to change her into something more comfortable leaving behind an almost deliberate silence between the two men...
“I—” Jungkook started, trying to ease the stillness, but Mr. Kim’s calm, steady voice cut through.
“So… you’re the lucky man my son fell for?” His words held no anger, yet there was a weight behind them, one brow lifting as though he wished to see how Jungkook would answer.
The question made Jungkook cough awkwardly, his throat suddenly dry. Lucky? That was too small a word for what Taehyung meant to him. Being accepted, trusted, and loved by Kim Taehyung was something he still held like a precious secret against his heart.
“Well, you could say that, sir,” Jungkook replied, straightening his posture, his tone respectful but sincere. His eyes met Mr. Kim’s without wavering, determined to show he wasn’t taking Taehyung’s love lightly.
Mr. Kim studied him for a moment, quiet and unreadable, before the corner of his lips tugged upward ever so slightly, teasingly. “So… when’s the marriage?”
Jungkook’s eyes widened in shock, his composure breaking as heat rushed to his face.
“Dad!”
The sharp protest came from the staircase. Both turned to see Taehyung stomping down, his lips pushed into a pout, cheeks faintly flushed in embarrassment.
Jungkook’s chest tightened at the sight, his laughter escaping softly. That pout childish yet endearing was something only he was lucky enough to see.
