I am not the only traveler

I stand beside the platform, next to Bucky, watching Steve say goodbye to Sam. I saw how the light in Bucky's eyes slowly faded as his best friend hugged him. Steve walked in front of me. He looked at me, the same way he looked at me when we met for the first time.

I've been searching for a trail to follow again

Take me back to the night we met

"Again?!" I groaned. I was walking home from a diner that my date stood me up at. I heard loud pops and saw fireworks in the town square. I realized that the Stark Expo was open this time of year. I decided to cheer myself up by buying a ticket at the gate. I wandered around, in awe of the Expo Center. I wasn't paying attention and I bumped into a guy my height.

We both fell onto the floor. I rubbed my forehead and looked at the person I hit, also sitting on the ground, recovering. I heard boots and heels run up behind me. "Oh look what you did Steve. Ya' knocked over a pretty girl." A Brooklyn voice says behind me. The woman in the heels helped me up. She had brunette curls and a sweet smile. "Buck, I didn't notice she was walking." The blonde man said.

The guy named Bucky smiled at me. "I apologize for my friend here, as an apology, would you like to join us?" He flashed me a smile, one that was probably used on many other girls. "Sure, I'll tag along." I brush off my skirt and look ahead. The brunette and Bucky walked ahead, her laughing at something he said. I looked to my right and noticed the man named Steve. I looked into his eyes. "I'm Y/N," I say. "I'm Steve." He grinned back.

I had all and then most of you

Some and now none of you

"I had a great time with you tonight," I said, blushing. Steve and I walked, hand in hand, on the sidewalk. Steve was blushing as well. We walked to my apartment door. "I had a great time as well," Steve said as I turned towards my door. "I'll see you sometime?" I ask him. He nods and starts to back away. I smile and wave as he leaves. When he leaves completely, I shut the door behind me, leaning against it as I slide my back down the door, grinning from ear to ear.

Later down the line, I watched as Steve joined the war efforts. I saw him leave with tear-filled eyes. "Please come back to me...alive." He looked at me. "I will.." He kissed me on the lips softly, so much passion and devotion pressed into me. I leaned back and wished him well.

'Nurses needed' signs line the street. The idea had been on my mind for a while, but I didn't know if I was ready to commit to my decision. I take a flyer from the board in the diner's lobby. I sighed and nodded to myself. 'Let's do it' I thought, hyping and encouraging myself.

When I arrived at the address that I was given, my nerves started to set in. 'I signed up to be a nurse, I'm supposed to be at a hospital.' I thought to myself. I shook the thoughts away. I walked through the shop. A woman walked and stood next to me. "My name is Margaret Carter." She stuck her hand out. I shook it back and was confused about her accent, but spoke nothing of it. She led me back into a secret laboratory. A coffin-like container was in the middle, standing vertically.

"So.. why was I called here? I thought I was being transferred to a field hospital?" I asked questions, demanding softly for answers. "Well... Steven mentioned a Y/N Y/L/N when we talked about a female volunteer to be a super soldier alongside him," she started walking down the stairs," Since you were already in our system as a nurse, we knew you would be a perfect fit." She finished. I stood there, trying to process all the information I was given. I quickly caught up to her.
