**Chapter 10: Hammock**
Killer goes up the ramp first and is immediately stopped by a few worried crew members, who inform the second-in-command that their captain was very, very angry when he came back. The crew member begins to question what happened when Cytherea walks onto the ship, her presence commanding attention and radiating an aura of confidence that instantly calms the crew's nerves. She stands tall, her long, white hair cascading down her back like a waterfall, and her piercing gray eyes scan the deck, taking in every detail.
The ship goes quiet, not expecting a new member, especially a female one. Cytherea walks along the rails of the ship, letting her hand slide along the weathered wood, feeling the rough texture beneath her fingertips and the coolness of the sea breeze against her pale skin. The ship has taken off; she closes her useless eyes and smiles at the fresh sea air, the salty breeze invigorating her senses and filling her lungs with the scent of adventure. The sun hangs high in the sky, casting a golden hue over the ocean waves that dance and shimmer like diamonds. A sense of freedom washes over her, a feeling she has longed for. She turns to her first mate, asking in a confident voice, "What is her name?" while gesturing to the ship they were going to sail on. Killer stands with his arms crossed, his muscular build visible under the sunlight, exuding an air of pride and strength as always. A prominent scar runs up his right arm and extends to his neck, a testament to battles fought and survived. Behind her, she receives her reply from the captain himself. "Her name is Victorian Punk."
Their conversation is cut short by some yells coming from the docks. "CYTHEREA, YOU BITCH! YOU DIDN'T TELL ME YOU WERE LEAVING!!!" It was Edwy, and the rest of the bar staff was there, waving goodbye to her with a mix of sadness and excitement. Cytherea feels a rush of warmth at the sight of Laurie, who is up and moving, her bright smile illuminating the moment like the sun breaking through clouds. A pang of nostalgia hits her as she remembers the countless nights spent laughing and sharing dreams with her friends, their faces etched in her memory.
She turns back to the bar staff, waving and shouting, "SORRY, EDWY! MY SHIP CAME IN, AND MY CAPTAIN TOLD ME I ONLY HAD ENOUGH TIME TO GET MY SHIT AND GO!!! I WILL SEE YOU GUYS LATER! TAKE CARE!!" Edwy yells, "CATCH!" Whatever he threw wasn't something she couldn't 'see' with her haki, so she truly was blind for once, a rare moment of vulnerability.
Sighing, she expects not to know what it was and waits for it to hit her or the water. Suddenly, a warm body leans over her, and a small thump comes from right in front of her face. She looks up to see her captain standing behind her, his tall frame casting a shadow over her, holding the mystery object in his hand, inches from smacking her face. Damn Edwy and his aim.
The captain, with just a hint of teasing in his voice, says, "Damn, you really are blind. Are you sure you are going to be any use to me?" She looks up and gives him the biggest smile, her confidence unwavering, but inside, her heart races with a mix of excitement and anxiety. Quickly, she spins on her heels, standing chest to chest with him, only separated by their height difference. "Of course, Eustass Captain Kid. I am going to make you the next King of the Pirates!”
The crew cheers at her bold declaration, their excitement palpable as they rally around her words. The air is thick with the scent of salt and sweat, mingling with the sound of waves crashing against the hull. Seagulls cry overhead, their silhouettes darting against the bright blue sky, while the sun glints off the water, creating a mesmerizing pattern of light. She has known Kid since he was five, and she never doubted he would reach his goals. Cytherea made him that promise as well, so for both of them, she will make him king of the pirates, even if it means sacrificing her own life to make it happen. The weight of that promise hangs heavy in her heart, a bittersweet reminder of the stakes involved, but the fire of determination ignites her spirit, pushing her forward into the unknown.
