Chapter 20 Attack

**Chapter 20: Attack**

Danger. She gasps awake, her haki going wild. It's not the small storm outside that wakes her, but a prickling sensation on her skin, a whisper of dread in the air. Someone is coming for them. She sits up and looks over at Killer, who is already awake and waiting for her to fill him in. She closes her eyes and pushes her haki out further than just around the ship; she pushes through the storm, into the sea, searching for the source of the threat. To the port side of the ship, she finds it – a cluster of dark shapes, hidden by the rain, moving with a predatory speed. As she collects the information, she tells Killer, “They are an hour away, maybe less. Thirty strong men, not the elite of an Emperor crew, but still a dangerous force.”

Killer bangs on Eustass's wall, shouting the news she just shared with him. They hear a loud response, "HELL YEAH, I WAS WANTED TO TEAR SOMEONE APART TODAY! GET READY NOW!" The two answer, "AYE CAPTAIN!" and start to get dressed in a hurry. Killer seems aware of the colder weather, so he has her long-sleeve jumpsuit ready for her. He also snagged her gear when he dropped off her night clothes earlier, so most of her equipment was all laid out. She appreciates how thoughtful he is. She quickly checks everything and decides against wearing her hip bag since it's not prepared for a fight, and she doesn't have time to sort it out. Instead, she opts for just her whip and knives.

After Killer gets dressed, she stops tying her boots and stands up quickly before he puts on his helmet. She doesn't say a word as she grabs his shirt, pulling him down to her level for a kiss. He deepens it more by putting his hand on the back of her head. Killer dominates the kiss, almost as if he is trying to remember every part of her mouth. He pulls away forcefully, then places his forehead on hers. He stares into her eyes and whispers, "If you need me, just call; I'll find you. Stay next to Heat, Wire, or Gig." He pulls away, and holds her by her shoulders and stares at her face intensely after a moment he continues with his command voice. "That's an order, Cytherea; if you disobey, there will be real consequences." She smiles at him sweetly and pulls him in and kisses him again gently. She breaks away for a moment just her lips hovering over his whispering, "Sir, yes Sir." Killer nods, puts on his helmet, and closes the door behind him.

When she gets out the door, the storm is worse. She is very thankful that she weighs a good bit. If she were lighter, the winds would have thrown her overboard again. Cytherea tracks down the captain to give him more information she can find out with her haki. He is in the galley; she manages to get to it while the ship violently rocks back and forth.

When she comes in, all the higher-ups are in deep discussions. She slides in and stands on the edge of the room, listening to the conversation. Eustass is yelling at the night watch about how they could let someone get so close. The men are making a plan of attack. Eustass asks loudly, "WHO THE FUCK IS STUPID ENOUGH TO ATTACK US ANYWAY?" The men turn to her as if she knows the answer. She closes her eyes and puts her thumb on her chin, focusing on the approaching enemies. Eustass grows impatient and yells, "WELL, WHO ARE THEY? DID YOU MAKE THIS SHIT UP, YOU STUPID BITCH?"

This pisses her off; she opens her eyes, lets her glasses slide down, and glares at the man. She answers in a serious tone, one that leaves no room to question her intent. "Captain Eustass Kid, I will die trying to make you King of the Pirates. BUT if you ever speak to me like that again, I will abandon your ship and disappear where no one will ever find me." Her voice grows numb, with a shadow falling upon her face. "I endure countless tortures, raped by God knows how many men, and was treated like a fucking dog for five damn years. I will never be treated like that by ANYONE ever again. Can you handle that, Captain, or do we need to discuss my departure from this ship?"
