Nick’s POV
“Come on!” Joe said, “That new artist is up! I heard she’s crazy good!” I sighed and stood up from my chair and setting my guitar back in the case. I was trying to practice, bu leave it to Joe to distract me. He’s so fucking annoying sometimes. I stood up and slowly followed Joe and Kevin, shuffling my feet, my hands in my pockets, to the edge of the stage. She was stunning, long dark hair, amazing curves. Then she started speaking. It was like an arrow to my heart, silky, smooth, breathtaking, the voice of an angel, that made me weak in the knees.
“Hey everyone!” she said, “I am working on my own album but for now, this is a cover of Rhianna’s What’s My Name. I will be doing the rap, but with my own little melody to it.” She took a deep breath, cleared her throat and started playing her guitar, her eyes closed, head back, not even glancing once at her chords.

From the moment she opened her mouth and started strumming her guitar I was hooked. I couldn’t move, I was in complete and utter awe. Her voice was thick, rich and her guitar skills were sick and tight. My heart was racing and my palms were sweating. I never believed in Love at first sight, but I was in complete infatuation with this girl.
I Felt like my feet were cemented down to the side of the stage. My vision was a tad blurry, and my head was throbbing from the need to talk to her. I hadn’t even noticed that it was over, until Kevin smacked my arm.
“Nick!” he said, “You alright?!” I snapped out of it, tearing my eyes from her and looking at my brother. He just snickered and fluffed my hair. I blushed immediately, looking back down to my feet.
“Smitten are we?” he asked, resting his arm back to his side. I rubbed the back of neck, nervously.
“She’s really good,” I said, softly, staring back out at her, seeing her walking toward us holding a woman’s arm. She was like an angel, walking toward us, this amazing swerve to her hips and smile on her face. I swear her eyes were seeing right through me. They were this amazing brown milky color. To the point they were almost like a tan or so. They were truly beautiful.
As she walked up to us, the woman helped her sit down and she was just sitting there, kind smiling as I shuffled my feet in place.
“You gonna dance around or you gonna say something?!” she said, with a chuckle.
“Sorry,” I said, “My name is Nick, These are my brothers Joe and Kevin.” I offered her my hand but she seemed to completely ignore it. I couldn’t even tell if she was paying attention.
“Hi,” Joe and Kevin said together. She giggled a bit, but I pulled my hand back, from her obvious rejection and ran my hand over the side of my head, through my hair, back to my neck.
“Well, my name is Jennifer,” she said, “So are you guys Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas?!” Kevin chuckled.
“Well yeah,” he said, with a laugh, with a little bit of a DUH attitude
“Awesome, I’ve heard your stuff,” she said, still staring off into space, “Especially your solo stuff Nick, really good.” I blushed a bit. God she must think I’m an idiot, blushing like a moron. I smiled at her, and she seemed to return it, softly.
“Thanks,” I responded softly, “So how did you learn to play?!” She smiled brightly at the mention of her music.
“Well, I was about 8 and my Dad bought me a guitar,” she said, “I just listened to music and started matching notes and sounds... So I kinda self taught. Learned where my fingers go and things.”
“Wow, that’s amazing,” I said, smiling at her inspiring story.
“Yeah, it’s amazing what sound can do!” she said, “If you listen and just compare or FEEL it, it’s easy to catch on. I guess when your short a sense, you tend to heighten the others.”
“Well, Jennifer, are you ready?!” the woman asked coming up to her.
“Sure am Cindy,” she said, “My dog is probably missing me and worried.” The woman helped her stand and I was confused at why she needed assistance.
“So, Jennifer,” I started, ‘Before you go, I’d love to get your number... Maybe we can jam sometime...” She smiled.
“I’d like that,” she said, “Go ahead and get it from Cindy. She’s my big helper.” Cindy smiled at me.
“Let me get her situated in the van and I’ll be back,” she said. I nodded and off they went. My legs were like jello, completely weakened from the conversation we just had. She was intoxicating, and phenomenal. I had to sit down, as Joe and Kevin teased me relentlessly. After a moment, Cindy returned and I smiled, as she handed me Kacie’s number.
“Just call and ask for her,” she said. I smiled, and as she turned to walk away, I spoke up.
“OH! Hey!” I said, making her stop and turn back to me, ‘Why was she just sitting there, staring off like that? I mean I tried to shake her hand, but she acted as if she couldn’t even see it!”
“Because she can’t,” she replied simply, “She’s blind...” With that she walked away and I was in total shock. Blind?! This stunning beauty and amazing artist was blind? This only interested me more. I couldn’t believe it, she learned guitar, sings and all without seeing anything. She had perfect pitch and amazing guitar skills, and knowing she was playing with out even seeing what she was doing.
So she went from this amazing artist with amazing talent, to an even bigger inspiration and obsession for me. Her being blind just made her more intriguing to me. She was self taught, because she had to be. She may not be able to see me, but I wanted to see her, and very soon. I wanted to know more, hear more, see her more. Even if she couldn’t see me.
