                                      At long last.
I Promise you, never again for such a long wait.

I continue to poke at the cold slice of roast chicken on my plate while I talk to my sister, She yapped and I listened more like. I was seated at the farthest table on the left of the room, of all the canteens I have been in, this one looked the closest to the one in high school movies.

" All right mi gone, but seriously, give him a proper chance and stop making up excuses. Your not a child anymore." Click!

She hung up on me again, not that it bothered me anymore, I pluck the earpods out my ears and put them on the table. I am famished but I just haven't been eating the way I used to. I mostly fed on hot tea from the machine or any type of shakes, Starbucks has become an addiction, basically any and everything juice related.

" Seat taken?" I remove my hand covering my face and squint to see Ava standing before me.

" Hey, no you can sit." I straighten my posture and grab the fork to see if I could at least take a bite out of the salad while Ava distracted me with talking.

" Are you okay? You look alittle pale." She asks as she places her cold fingers on my forehead.

" Yea I am just tired."

" No. It's something else, talk to me." I put the fork down and reach for hot cup of tea I ordered.

" Girl, I don't know. I just feel so sluggish. I sit on my ass all day and I move twice for the entire day, lunch and end of the day." I mumble.

" Your sick. You should go to the clinic. It's free after all." She puts her lunch bag on the table and pull out her lunch, quit a few dishes too.

I watch wordlessly as she uncovers the dishes and began eating small portions.

" My mother packed me a bunch of stuff," she points with her fork and name them as she went along.

" Can I get some of that ugh-" I point with my finger. She pushed the plate towards me. It smells delicious, the rice is orangish- red and so is the chicken.

" The food they serve in the canteen has changed too damn much, a few months eating it and I was clogged from mouth to my asshole. It only took you a month to find that out so eat." I began to eat, I might be getting sick but Ava is right.

" Mhmmm." I lean back and chew my mouth full of rice.

" It's delicious." She smiles and uncover a fish dish and began eating.

Not long after we walked into the busy Westend corridor where all the trolleys filled with empty dishes and cutlery are parked. It's like a backed up driveway basically.

We climb the small stairway connected to the lobby where we emerge just as the executive elevators doors slid open.

" Mmm mnmm." Ava hums beside me, I assume her sounds of appreciation is directed at Red as he walked ahead of Stoffinski. I watch quietly with my arms folded across my chest as his entourage left the lobby.

" Everytime I see him my stomach contracts." She smirks as she runs her hands along the length of her body.

" Yeah right." I replied awkwardly to which she laughs and reminded me to meet her after work. I had every intention this time around to meet her because my back has been acting up, inactive waistline most likely.

Aside from the laundry rooms, every building on the compound is aesthetically pleasing to look at, even my little cubicle that I have been reduced to is comfortable and neat.
