Peyton walked through the halls, trying to traverse it without tripping over her own feet or bumping into someone and getting her ass beat. But that was kind of hard when there were over a hundred high schoolers crammed into a single hallway.
It always smelled weird in the hallways for some reason. Well, at least during passing period. It smelled like a mix of armpit sweat and burning rubber.
Peyton badly wished for school to be over already. She'd had enough of this already. Only three weeks into sophomore year and she already couldn't wait summer break to hit. That was saying a lot because Peyton didn't like the summer all that much. She didn't like the heat, it only made her sweaty and irritable. Not that it got that hot in Denver compared to other towns, but it was still hot to her since she was used to living in Colorado.
The thought of skipping class crossed her mind, and she considered it. There wasn't any point in going, it was study hall. And she already knew what they'd learn in all of her other classes after that. History; The bubonic plague. English; Poetry, specifically Invictus by William Ernest Henley. Pottery; making vases. Again. It was all boring, Peyton already knew all of this from her late-night caffeine-induced study sprees.
Now, Peyton was itching for a joint. She left her stash in Robin's truck, and he'd probably be willing to skip study hall for a joint and a cheeseburger from Culvers. But she knew Finney was with him, and he'd probably say no. She could ask for Robin's keys. Peyton could probably invite Vinnie to come with her, they'd probably say yes. Yeah, Peyton decided. She'd do that.
Peyton made her way to the library somewhat successfully; she almost fell flat on her face because one of the football jocks, specifically Mark Richards, put their foot out in front of her. Peyton managed to hop over it in time, but it was still an asshole move. But right now, her priorities are to relieve that burning itch in the back of her head.
Peyton looked around, eventually finding Robin and Finney sitting at a round wooden table in the far left corner of the library. She should have been used to this by now, they always sat there.
Finney's brown wavy hair had grown out a little bit more since he was thirteen, it was long enough to put in a ponytail now. He had beautiful brown eyes that seemed to always catch everyone's attention. If you looked close enough, you could identify the tiny flecks of green around the inside of his iris. Finney's skin had the same hue as it always did; a tiny bit of a tan, but not enough to be considered a real tan.
And Robin's hair had grown out a lot more since he had stopped cutting it. It was past his shoulder blades at least, and it was still the same dark brown as it was two years ago. Robin's skin was darker than Finney's of course, since he was Mexican. It was a nice warm shade, and his skin was clear as well. His eyes were dark, but still held lots of warmth, like burning coals. Robin was wearing his bandana of course.
Peyton walked towards them, but the two didn't notice until she sat down at the table and made a loud clinking sound because she sat on the chains on her greyish-brown baggy jeans "Sorry." She whispered when everyone except for Robin and Finney gave her an irritated look. "Hi, Robin. Hi, Finney."
The three of them giggled discreetly. "What do you need? Because I know you aren't here to study." Finney asked playfully.
"Finney! Why would you ever assume that? I am so offended!" Peyton feigned offense, dramatically crossing her arms.
"Just tell us what you need." Robin laughed quietly.
"Fine, you caught me. I am itching for a joint right now, but my stash is in your glove box. So if you give me your truck keys I will buy you a cheeseburger from Culver's tomorrow." Peyton held out her hand. "Gimme."
