mike's breath released in a sigh as elaine's voice reached him through the phone. "hello," he greeted. "hey, mike!! troy and i have plans for a date. want to join us?" elaine's enthusiasm rang through her words. he hesitated, pondering a refusal, yet reconsidered, aware of elaine's potential disappointment. the moment arrived for their outing. elaine collected mike, troy occupying the front seat, lavishing affection on her, prompting a disgusted cough from mike. it ought to have been him. then, troy inquired, "why bring frog face along?"
