I didn't make this story for it to grow attention, but just to have a platform to post some content of my life because it makes me feel secure.
Alex stares closely at their phone's reflection. Who are those people? They wondered in confusion. They turned over to the two people seen in the reflection. It was a strange scene they were looking at, and Alex immediately recognized the two people after squinting in realization. "Vera and Adrian?" Alex asked aloud. The couple turned around, and Alex quickly shut their mouth and turned back around. They took out their phone and pretended to be doing something on it.
"That's weird," Alex heard Vera say. "I could've sworn I heard someone call my name."
"You weren't the only one," Adrian commented.
Shoot, I almost got caught! Alex thought in a fright. What was I thinking?! They tried looking in their phone's reflection again, but to no avail as the couple has apparently changed their location. Alex was sitting on a bench in the afternoon air, located on a big boardwalk by the ocean, where people were seen sightseeing and walking around. All they saw was the blue ocean ahead of them from their phone reflection.
"Hey," a voice said, "What's up, Alex?" Alex brought their face up to the voice and widened their eyes, knowing who it was.
"Stacy?!" Alex exclaimed. "What are you doing here? I thought you said you wanted to stay home and read your manhwa or something. You said you wanted to finish my Love Shuttle. Did Mira take you?"
"Yep!" Stacey replied. "Mira offered, really. You know how it is. I couldn't pass up a free ride to the beach! I need to try out beach volleyball!" Alex let out a small laugh.
"That's crazy, Stacey."
"You're crazy!"
"Whatever."
"Well what are you even doing here anyway, Alex?" asked Stacey. She sat down on the bench next to Alex, folding her hands on her lap. Stacey placed a hand on Alex's shoulder, staring at nothing when she speaks, "You've been very strange lately since you took this vacation to Florida. Valerie is worried about you, as well as Mira. I'm worried too. What's up, Alex?" Alex was silent at Stacey's words, turning their head around to see the couple standing in their new position, about to kiss in the sunset. They sigh, turning to Stacey.
"I love someone who lives in Florida very much," Alex told Stacey. "And for years, I've always hated two specific people."
"Just two?"
"Shut up, Stacey!" Alex yells playfully. Alex pushes up their glasses on the bridge of their nose. "This is serious, though. I've hated those two people who've always hurt the person I love. They're like two mosquitoes I can't hit. I was never given their information, so now they just lurk hurting all kinds of people."
"This seems like a weird situation," Stacey points out. She shrugs and laughs. "Couldn't be me," she adds. Alex growls at her.
"You're unbelievable," Alex tells her.
"Your situation is unbelievable," Stacey points out. Alex just crosses their arms. They stand up and turn back to look at Vera and Adrien making out on the edge of the boardwalk. The sun was slowly starting to set, and if Alex didn't make a move soon, the couple would leave without even knowing Alex was there. Stacey stands up. She tells Alex, "Hey, it's alright. Sometimes you need to let go of grudges. If that person you love doesn't wanna give you their information, it means she's pretty much moved on. It's your turn to move on from them, now."
Alex widens their eyes. "You actually said something serious," they say.
"What do you mean?" Stacey responds in a laughing tone. "I'm always serious."
Alex sighs and rolls their eyes. They see from the edge of their peripheral vision that Stacey has left. Turning their attention back on the couple, Alex zeros in on the two's very intense session. "They're really going at it," Alex comments. Should I bother them? Push one into the water? Touch one on the shoulder and pretend nothing happened? Play Careless Whisper? she contemplates. The options on bothering them were endless.
Ignoring Stacey's earlier advice, Alex walks up to them. Vera is the first to turn around. "Oh, hello there," she greets breathlessly to Alex, not minding that she just made out with a guy right in front of Alex's face. "Do you need something?" Alex crosses their arms. They think about what to say.
"U-Uhm..." they begin. "Your hair looks like a mop." Vera gapes at Alex while Adrien laughs at the comment Alex blurted out. Alex panics. She never really knew how to insult people on the fly.
"Your hair really does look like a mop with all of this wind!" Adrien comments, laughing his booty off. Vera gasps, offended. Alex snorts in her hand, trying to be discreet. In truth, Vera's hair was thick and messy, as well as wet from her long day at the beach. So it would make sense that her hair would look like a mop of all things.
"Could you stop?!" Vera screamed at her boyfriend. "You can't insult your own lover like that!" Adrien scratches his head when his laughter died down, eyebrow arched. Alex just looked in between the two of them, just watching it go down now.
"It's not an insult; it's true!" defended Adrien. "Your hair does look like a mop. If I wanted to, I could probably squeeze out the water from your hair and use it to wash out our apartment floor!" Alex stifled a laugh. This was some pretty darn bad humor of theirs, but Alex didn't give a damn. Seeing Vera getting insulted by her own boyfriend was funny to watch, all because of one single comment.
Vera slaps Adrien and he just stands there, frozen in shock. Alex's jaw drops. They didn't want this to lead to violence. "Hey, hey!" intervened Alex, "No need to get too mad! It was one comment!-"
"And you," Vera seethes out. "You're a full on menace!" Adrien finally snaps out of it, and lets out a cry of frustration before charging into Vera, aiming nowhere. This somehow leads to both of them falling over the railing, and landing into the ocean. Alex lets out a noise of terror. This was not how he wanted to go. Alex needed to get someone, fast.
Alex ran up to the railing, and looked down at the couple swimming in the ocean, fighting the waves while fighting each other. Alex couldn't hear them, but she knew that the couple must've been yelling at each other, drinking salt water in the process. "I didn't mean for all of this to happen!" Alex shouted at them down below. "I just wanted to insult you one time! To make up for it, I'll go get help!"
Not waiting for a response, Alex took out their phone and dialed 911.
