Rookie and yang were lucky to find a cave, it was dark rookie used his headlight and light from his smg and pointed it down the light down the cave.
He walked in and yang followed.
"Dont worry, this cave is empty" She said walking past him and sitting on a rock.
"There arnt any tracks, the air is slightly stale and it doesn't smell like anything dangerous has been here" Yang said
Rookie looked at her confused, she smiled.
"Little tips and tricks I learned from Professor Ports at beacon academy" She said
Rookie nodded and put all the wood he could find and put it in the middle of the cave, before throwing a match in and lighting a fire. He noticed yang was till cold and shivering, he took of his pack and opened it pulling out a small silver square. He began to unfold it out.
"Thermal Blanket?" Yang asked seeing what her had
He nodded and was about to give it to her.
"Hey umm wait could you umm look away, just for a second" Yang said
Rookie nodded again and turned to face the wall, he heard shuffling behind him.
"Okay you can look now" Yang said
He turned and saw Yang was wrapped in the thermal blanket and her clothes were laid out near the fire. Rookie put two and two together and blushed under his mask. He reached into his pack again and pulled out a spare ODST shirt.
He handed it to her facing away again, Yang opened the shirt and saw the skull drop pod, it said
"ODST FIEET FIRST INTO HELL"
She put it on and smiled.
"Thank you" She said
Rookie turned and nodded. He sat across from yang and reached into his pack and pulled out a MRE and C-Ration.
He held them both up to show yang.
The C-ration can said
"Pork and beans"
While the MRE said
"Spaghetti and meatballs"
"I'll take the Spaghetti" Yang said
Rookie tossed it to her and she followed the instructions and opened it using a plastic fork to eat. Rookie opened his up and began to eat too only lifting his helmet up to reach his mouth.
Yang watched him wanting to see more of his face as curious as she was.
"So Rookie, what's your real name?" Yang asked
Rookie nodded and took off his dog tags and handed it to her. She looked at it and saw his name.
"Lance Corporal Jonathan Doherty, UNSC Marine Corp." Yang said holding the dog tag reading it
She smiled finally knowing his name.
"Nice name, can I see the face that goes with the name" Yang asked
Rookie stopped for a moment and did realize he had no reason to hide his face, yang had been trust worthy this whole time. He felt guilty and nodded.
He slowly took off his helmet and yang blushed.
He had short black hair, bright blue eyes and fair skin, a scar on his cheek. He looked at her and smiled.
"Thank you" is all yang could saw handing him his dog tags back smiling.
He nodded and put them back on amd finished his ration.
"Hey you know you could sit next to me right, I don't bite" Yang said
Rookie nodded and got up sitting next to yang, they were both the same height but still he was nervous around her.
She leaned on him.
"Sorry I'm still cold, hope you don't mind" she said
He nodded as he put more wood on the fire.
"Thanks again, I don't know what would have happened if you didn't show up" Yang said
She got closer
"I don't want to think about it cant help it, but I feel safe with you" Yang said tearing up
Rookie put his arm around her and held you, she looked at him and smiled. He opened his mouth like he was going to say something. She smiled
"Dont worry you don't have to say anything, your actions speak louder then words" Yang said
She leaned, both were blushing. As the rain slowed down their lips touched
