Nightmare was a kid who snapped/truamatize by a point in life when he was force to eat a certain drug called black apple opposite of the yellow apple drug that was popular. The black apple drug was made by their mother with the yellow apple drug. They mother never cared and was always absent. Both him and his brother tried to protect others from going to the room that have it but dream always bring his "friends" to the home. One day they got the black drug and forced nightmare to drink making him snap and killed them. The yellow drug made people happy while the other made the fall in to sadness. As gold was already great . The mother kept experimenting on nightmare with the bad. one day while getting experimented, nightmare snapped and kill his mother.
this cause nightmare and dream becoming orphna, but by then nightmare had already escaped the home.
