Pap Léna-Emília born on 9th of may 1999 is a Hungarian race driver who will start competing in Formula 1 in 2022 with Volkswagen Racing. She has dual nationality as she was born in Romania but is Hungarian. She is racing under the Hungarian flag.
Personal life:
Pap Léna-Emília was born in may 9th 1999 (22). Her parents, Pap Réka-Emília (mother, 44) and Pap Bence (father, 50) had three children, first being her then a boy Pap Dominik (18) who was born in 2003 september 25th, and then another girl Pap Rebeka-Szidónia (9) who was born in 2012 november 2nd.
She was born in Romania, and lived there until she was 11 years old when her familly moved to Switzerland. She continued her education and karting there. When Pap joined Redbulls Junior Team at 16 she moved to Milton Keynes like most drivers that are part of the junior team.
Formula 4:
Pap Lena graduated to single-seaters in 2016, she was driving for Carlin and claimed two win with the team. She came second in the championship which her teammate Max Fewrtell won on the last race of the season at Brands Hatch.
Formula Renault:
In 2017 she competed in Formula Renault Eurocup, in which she came 2nd in the championship. She was with R-ace GP, the team that won the cunstroctors.
In 2018 she was still competing in Formula Renault Eurocup, with R-ace Gp, only this time she won it. She came first in front of her teammate Max Fewtrell who had 270 points, while Lena had 275,5 points.
Formula 3:
In 2019, when the GP3 was replaced by Formula 3 Pap came second by a few points to her teammate, Robert Swartzman. She was racing with Prema, her and Swartzman won the constructions championship. They were battaling for the title until the last race of the season.
Formula 2:
In 2020 she moved up to F2 staying with Prema, but getting a new teammate in the person of Mick Schumacher. Then she started into yet another chamionship battle with her teammate. In the end she came out on top and won the 2020 Formula 2 chamoinship by 1 point. The two teammates won the constructors for Prema.
Formula 1:
In 2021 she didn't have a seat yet, while other drivers from F2 were promoted to F1 like Mick Schumacher and Yuki Tsunoda, Lena started out as a reserve and test driver for Alphatauri and Red Bull.
Pap Léna is going to make her Formula 1 debut with Volkswagen in 2022. The rookie team is going to track with two female rookies, making their debut in Bahrain.
