Welcome to those reading! I hope we have a magical journey together as this transforms from a single idea to a full-blown story.
Now, one thing I will admit is that all my AUs start from a single, slightly random idea. Let's take my ongoing Another World series, with its sequel currently in the works. It all began when I was practicing digital art and turned Ladybug into a fugitive:

And here we are two years later...
And if you even remember that old "Goddessy" thing I had way back when I was new to Wattpad... yeah, that was inspired by a single MLP meme and I remember it was going to be a seven-book saga.
So what inspired the EQG fantasy AU?
I had a random thought while watching the shorts and was like "so what if the EQG series was set in medieval times?"
That's literally all that happened.
And now I have this idea bursting in my head, so here's what I have so far:
they only end up doing a fantasy quest together because they just happen to be in the same place when they realize the big bad makes the entire city explode and they're some of the only survivors - they were basically like "crap we gotta stop him" - so they decide to find a seer and they learn they have to save the world
Wow. That's... not a whole lot to go off of 😂
