Home at last

I sighed as I watched the road before me as I drove. My thoughts were all over the place. My father had called me just six days prior, informing me that my sister was unwell. Depressed. From what my father had said to be from a very bad break up.

I knew of my sister's boyfriend Edward Cullen. Bella spoke of him literally every time we spoke, though Bella had not spoken to me in months since the breakup which obviously had me very worried, especially since Bella and I had been extremely close prior to this. Bella and I were what most people called Irish twins. I was exactly one year older than Bella. We actually shared the same birthday just one year apart.

Finally after what felt like forever I saw the 'Welcome to Forks' sign and smiled. I was almost home.

Home. It felt weird but it also felt right. Of course Renee, Bella and I's mother got almost full custody of us when our parents divorced thus technically being mostly raised in Phoenix Arizona. I always felt more at home in Forks with my father though. That is why I always cherished my visits with him in Forks, unlike Bella. Bella had always hated Forks so when Bella had decided on her own to move there with our father it really shocked me. I at the time had been living with one of our cousins who was newly single with a newborn baby and I had decided to move away to help her get back on her feet as soon as I graduated high school in Phoenix. Both Bella and I were incredibly bright girls, so when our school offered us the choice to actually skip a grade I jumped for it while Bella decided against it. Thus leading me to graduate earlier.

Pulling myself out of my head, I focused again on where I was going. I soon found myself pulling into the familiar childhood street until my eyes landed on the small white house I couldn't wait to call home again. I was now grinning from excitement. Pulling into the driveway behind my dads police cruiser and a big red old and ugly truck I shut my car off. I opened the door and then bent over to pull the trunk lever so I could grab my things from the trunk. I quickly got out of my 2004 blue Toyota Camry and went to the trunk to grab my two suitcases and one duffel bag. I heaved the bag onto my shoulder and grabbed both suitcases before dragging them out. Shutting the trunk once they were out I quick as I could ran to the house because of course it had started to rain.

Before I could make it to the porch my father had opened the door. He must have heard me pull in. He met me some of the way to grab my duffel and one of my suitcases, ushering me inside. Once inside I immediately felt myself relax and smile. I felt so at peace here. I turned to my father once he had shut the door. He looked so relieved. I began to frown once I saw how bad he looked. He had dark circles under his eyes like he hadn't had a good nights sleep in months. I bit my lip and went to hug my dad who immediately returned it.

"Thank you so much for coming here Mar Mar." calling me by my horrid childhood nickname who only he and Bella used. The name was started by Bella who apparently found it easier to say when she was younger and it just stuck.

"Of course dad. You know I'd jump at the chance to come, even without these circumstances." I said lightly. He had already told me everything that was going on. "Where is she?" I almost whispered, afraid if I spoke too loudly and Bella was near it would somehow spook her.

Dad sighed. "She's up in her room. Come on we'll both go and I can drop your things off to your room." He said, before turning around to go upstairs. I immediately followed him. I could feel that my heart was starting to beat wildly. If my dad looked as bad as he did then Bella had to look ten times worse. How would Bella even react to me being here? Did dad even tell her? I began to chew on my lip when we got to the top of the stairs. Bella's door was open. I let my dad have my other suitcase and slowly walked up to Bella's door while he went to my own room to drop my things off.

I immediately felt my heart drop as I stared at the empty shell that was Bella, sitting on her bed looking at the wall but at nothing. Her eyes were void of literally anything. This wasn't my sister, this had to be someone else. Bella looked like a zombie. her eyes were sunken in, the dark circles under her eyes were prominent against her pale porcelain skin and she looked almost malnourished, like she had barely eaten in the last few months. I felt tears prickle in my eyes. Bella hadn't even noticed me yet, or if she did she hadn't reacted in the slightest.
