Kyle's POV:

“Kayla. Kayla!” I shouted seeing her faint, moving forward to catch her before she falls on the ground. Her face was pale, her lips were parched.

“What the fuck?!” I carried her bridal style using my leg to kick the door close. I took her upstairs to the guest room cause there's no way she's going to my room.

Dropping her on the bed and feeling her forehead, I realized she has a fever as her temperature was scorching hot. I took my phone from my pocket and called Maxwell–my friend who's a doctor.

“Hey dude. What's up? You never call me” He said as soon as he answered.

“Come to my house right now” I told him, not saying please at all.

“Why what's wrong? You aren't feeling well?”

“Something's wrong with her. Come over”

“Wait who's he–” I ended the call and looked down at Kayla. What's wrong with her? Hope she's okay though– wait what am I even saying.

Ten minutes later, Max arrived with his kit in his hand.

“You said something was wrong with her. Who's her?” He asked looking at me for an answer.

“I meant her” I said nodding my head at the bed where Kayla laid down, “My personal assistant”.

“Oh my God, you know her?” He asked surprised.

“Yes I know her. She's my assistant you dimwit. Now check her” I said getting annoyed.

After checking her in silence, he put her on an IV and packed his things.

“What's wrong with her?” I asked him getting up from where I sat.

“Apparently, she looks like she hasn't been sleeping for weeks, a month even. She has a cold and was so close to having a breakdown which could lead to a crisis.” He said rubbing his chin.

“A crisis?”

“Yes, a crisis, I guess you didn't know that she's a sickle cell patient. She used to be one of my patients before which is why I'm even shocked you know her.” He responded.

“Oh...I didn't know that” Why didn't she tell me.

“Of course you wouldn't” He said sarcastically.

“Okay you can leave now” I told him.

“Now that I'm done you want me to leave”

“Of course, I don't need you anymore”

“Oh wow, I'm hurt” He said feigning sadness.

“I'll ask Daisy to send you out.”

“You ain't even gonna treat me to a meal. How selfish of you” He said giving me a white eye look.

“Fine, Daisy's downstairs. You can ask her for a meal” Daisy's my house help. She's in her early fifties and takes care of the house. She's been here since I started staying here.

“Cool cool. Okay bye, when she wakes up tell her to take Advil. I'll be going now” He stepped out and left.

Looking down at her face, sleeping so peacefully without her usual smiling or angry face, she looks cute...what am I saying, I don't like anything about her hot ass– nevermind.

I stepped out of the room while I asked Daisy to take care of her while I went to the study.

Hearing voices as I walked down the stairs, I figured Kayla was awake already.

“Who changed my clothes then?” She asked.

“I did” Daisy answered then left as she noticed me standing at the door.

“I see you've made yourself comfortable already” I said walking to the bed where she was seated drinking water.

“I was about leaving and by the way thanks for taking care of me.....and not leaving me at your door” She said mumbling the last part to herself.

“It's okay. You're my employee, it's my responsibility”

“Right...Well thanks anyway, I'll be on my way”She said standing up and walking to the door.

“Why didn't you tell me?” I asked as her hand fell on the doorknob.

“Excuse me?” She walked back till she was standing at my front.

“Why didn't you tell me you were a sickle cell patient?”

“Huh?” She looked confused before realization set in. She opened her mouth like she was gonna say something but closed it, then she finally spoke,“How did you know?”So it's true.

“Maxwell told me” I said not bothering to lie.

“What Maxwell?”

“Maxwell Robinson” I said looking at her till she realizes.

“ Wait....Dr. Maxwell Robinson?! How do you know him?” She looked shocked, I mean who wouldn't be.

“That's not the point. The question was why didn't you tell me you were a sickler?”I asked getting angry. That was very important and she left it out.

“Why do you care?” She retorted back. Why do I care? Wait it's because...

“I'm your boss. That's why I'm bothered why you didn't tell me” I said taking steps closer to her.

“Just because you're my boss doesn't give you the right to question my decisions” She said, her cheeks puffing up.

“Oh it does. I'm asking for the last time why didn't you tell me?”

“Because I don't need your pity! I don't freaking need it!” She snapped, “Anytime someone knows they're always like 'Oh are you okay? Hope you aren't feeling pains? Does it hurt? Tell me if you need anything'. Well guess what I don't. So don't you dare pity me.”

“I don't pity you Kayla, if that's what you think” Why would she think that?

“Well then fine. I'll be at work in an hour. Goodbye boss” She said going towards the door.

“Take the day off” I said turning towards her .

“You see this is exactly what I just said. I don't need your pity Mr Fernandez” She looked cute with her cheeks flushed red with anger. Huh?

“It's not pity Kayla. You're not fully recovered so just take the day off and get better” I said calmly, hoping to change her mind.

“Well thanks but no thanks. I'm going to be at work.” She said huffing.

I chuckled before turning serious “I'm not asking you Kayla, it's an order. Take the day off.” I turned leaving her in the room.

Moments later I heard her leave after bidding Daisy goodbye.

Ok, this is not my favorite chapter. I think it's harder for me to write in his point of view, but I'm working on it. Let me know how you think I'm doing.
