On the Run

Kiara led them to the wreck so they can spend the night away from the cops.

"Why are we even staking out here if John B gets caught we won't be there for him"Pope didn't understand why they were at the wreck.

"WHERE ELSE DO YOU WANT TO GO POPE listen we have no other choice they probably have the chateau staked out so we can't go back we just got to hope that John B doesn't get caught while we're asleep"JJ said laying down on the floor.

The pogues went to sleep but for some reason Chase couldn't sleep.

Chase got up and started slowly walking to go get food. JJ heard rummaging around and woke up to find Chase eating food.

"Why are you up"JJ asked in a raspy voice.

"I can't sleep not while John B is on the run I mean how do we even know he's going to meet us at the dump tomorrow what if he gets caught before then"Chase was getting in his own head.

"You got to trust him he's an idiot but he can make it on his own knowing him he's probably with Sarah and Sarah can help him out whether she's a Pogue or not"JJ said sitting next to Chase.

"Yeah you're right I just can't help but get worried for him man"Chase said looking down.

"Me too I've been worried about him since the beginning of the treasure hunt even before the treasure I was worried about him I always will be and that's perfectly fine"JJ said kissing Chase on the cheek.

"You want to listen to music I know that helps calm you down sometimes we could share"JJ said taking out headphones.

"Yeah sure"Chase said taking an earbud and putting it in his ear.

JJ put on immortals knowing it was Chase's favorite song eventually the two fell asleep cuddling each other.

The next morning the four pogues woke up and looked outside JJ was getting anxious with how many police cars were still roaming around the streets.

"He's pinched for sure man"JJ said running his hands through his hair.

"No they wouldn't still be patrolling if they caught him"Kiara reassured JJ.

"Let's hope"Pope was looking at all the cop cars still going up and down the street standing right next to JJ.

"You know we were in that car they're probably looking for us too"Kiara said bringing up a point.

"Well if we're going to be outlaws might as well help John B"Chase said following Pope outside the wreck.

"So find him before they do"JJ questioned Chase just nodded his head in response.

"Pope"Kiara said trying to talk to him but Pope clearly didn't want to talk to her.

"I'm going to get gas for the boat"Pope said ignoring Kiara.

"Look I'm sorry that I hurt your feelings"Kiara tried to apologize but Pope was not having it he revved the engine really loud.

"What was that"Pope asked not caring to listen to what Kiara had to say.

"Look I didn't mean to"Kiara was really upset but Pope did not care he continued to rev the engine really loud.

"Sorry I can't hear you what was that"Pope sarcastically said.

"Pope I'm being serious I'm trying to talk to you"Kiara said but Pope just drove off.

"What do you think that was all about"Chase asked JJ after they overheard the conversation.

"I don't know but I do know that Pope is not one to do that normally"JJ said fixing his hat.

Right now JJ, Kiara, and Chase were in the car heading toward Chase's house.

"You sure he just wasn't being weird Pope"Chase questioned Kiara.

"It wasn't really the kind of thing that needed interpretation"Kiara responded that just made Chase confused.

"Is that enough food for them"JJ asked opening his backpack.

"I mean for a couple of weeks that's all they need so"Chase answered JJ's question.

"Look I think I actually hurt his feelings"Kiara said gaining Chase's attention again.

"Look don't beat yourself up too much he's completely changed his feels the past 24 hours have been like Jekyll and Hyde"JJ said putting his opinion out there.

"I hate to admit it but I miss the old Pope at least I knew what to expect from him"Kiara said.

"Home sweet home"Chase said as they arrived at his house.

"Do you want us to come because we'll come"Kiara asked but Chase didn't want them anywhere near his dad.

"No this will only take a second"Chase said getting out of the car and heading inside.

"Dad Dad I need the keys to the phantom dad"Chase called out for his dad and saw him once he entered the living room.

"I didn't expect to see you you're back"Michael said Chase was confused he was never this nice unless he wanted something.

"Yeah no I just"Chase was trying to find the right thing to say without making his dad mad.

"Just checking in school out already"Michael asked that's when Chase knew he was drunk because it was summer.

"What"Chase looked at his dad like he was insane.

"Did you ditch it's all right you can tell me"Michael asked laughing.

"Yeah I hit the break you know"Chase played along with Michael.

"I hated school too my boy hey you know what listen hey Hey look I know I'm hard on you sometimes"Michael started talking Chase nodded to let him know he was listening.

"But sometimes I see I see your mother in you and it gets me a little tweaked you know you're a good boy and I love you son I love you"Michael said pulling Chase into a hug.

"I love you too Dad I'm sorry"Chase didn't know what he was apologizing for he just felt like he needed to.

"You ain't got nothing to be sorry for"Michael said shortly before passing out drunk Chase reached over to his dad's neck and took the keys to the phantom and walked out to the car.

"How did it go"Kiara asked Chase as he got in the car Chase showed them the keys to the phantom.

Kiara drove them to where the phantom was located.

"It'll be fine it'll be fine with the phantom she'll get out quick whoa whoa whoa they're still looking it's a good sign"JJ said as they were ducking from the cop cars coming by.
