3rd POV

"Okay, so here's my view on your problem." Paige said as she flipped through her notebook the next day at Veneer's apartment. They were both sitting on a small couch. "One, you need a companion. And two, you miss singing!" Veneer sat there, processing what the troll had just said, and then completely blew up in confusion. "Wha-? But the reason I-! How could I-? Why do I-?!" he stuttered confused. "Whoa, there, Veneer. If you have questions then ask them clearly, will you?" Paige said calmly, continuing to flip through her notebook. Veneer took a couple of breaths before continuing. "Alright, so, first, why on Mount Rageous do you think I need a companion?! And second, the whole reason I got into jail in the first place was because of singing! Why would you feel that I need to start it up again?!" he demanded. "Well, to answer both questions, the feeling you're feeling might be due to loneliness. So, I invited someone over. He should be over any minute now." she explained, looking at the door. "He?!! You-what?!" Veneer could barely speak due to partial anger and confusion, but Paige ignored this and continued on. "And the reason you were put in jail in the first place is because you committed troll napping, troll torture, and fraud. Not because you sang. So that means you can learn to sing again!" she finished, raising her arms up. Veneer looked hesitant, and even afraid. "But the last time I checked, I was horrible at singing. That was the whole reason why Velvet and I decided to take trolls' singing abilities. And what if I screw it up, again?" he asked the troll. Paige thought about this as she paced around the cushion. "Well, you can practice and become a great singer." she suggested. But when she looked up at Veneer's face, she only saw more hesitance. Sure, Veneer did want to sing again. Heck, he loved those times when he sang with his sister, even if they did secretly torture trolls back then. "C'mon," Paige said gently, "don't you miss going onstage? Singing your heart out while the crowd cheered you on?" Veneer was silent at this. Of course he did, but at the same time, he was still afraid. What if the other Rageons still hated him for what he did? No, he still had to try...After battling with his feelings for a while, "Yes, I do miss it. And I'm willing to try practicing singing." he finally responded. Paige clapped her hands in glee. "PERFECT!!!" she squealed.

Veneer's POV

Our conversation was interrupted by the doorbell ringing. "Oh! He's here!" Paige said. "Go on, open the door for him!" I slowly stood up and walked towards the door. I looked back at Paige. "You're not going with me?!" I whisper-yelled. "Nope!" she exclaimed. "Now go!" I sighed in exasperation and went over to the door. I opened and my mouth fell open. It was the interviewer guy! What's-his-name, Kid Ritz! He looked pretty shocked to see me as well. We just stood there in awkward silence for a while, him shocked and me gaping, until I slammed the door in his face. Paige gasped. "VENEER! Let him in! That's not how we treat our guests!" she cried. "I-you INVITED Kid Ritz?! The interviewer guy?!" I yelped. "Yeah! He was the only other Rageon I could find that knew you other than your sister!" Paige replied. "Now go open the door, and let him in." I was about to give her a piece of my mind, but she interrupted with, "Do you want to get rid of your feelings or not?!" I froze, then groaned as I walked back to the door, placed my hand on the knob, and opened it just a crack. "H-Hi?" Kid Ritz said, waving. "I'm guessing Paige invited you?" I said, opening the door a little more. "Yup, the little troll I heard you talking to." he responded. We both just stood there for a while again until I broke the silence with, "Well, come on in, I guess." We both came back into the little room where Paige was. She was writing in her little notebook again. As Veneer sat back down, she looked up and her face brightened. "Oh, hey, Kid Ritz!" she said. "Feel free to sit down anywhere!" "Um, thank you." Kid Ritz said politely. He sat down on the couch next to Veneer. "So, I see that Kid Ritz is here, so I will take my leave." Paige said cheerfully, jumping down from the couch. "W-Wait. I thought you were gonna-you know, stay here?" I said, panic rising in me. I couldn't be left with him. Not for a million dollars, not in a million years! "D-oh, c'mon! You both can handle a little bonding time! You can become friends, ooh, or mayyybeee even mooorree!!" I felt my face heat up in embarrassment and I saw Kid Ritz blush as well. "Paige! It's not gonna be like that!" I exclaimed. She shrugged. "Whatever you say, Veneer. Well, have fun, you two!!" she said, opening the door with her hair. She went out, and slammed the door behind her, leaving the both of us dumbfounded.
