After Paige left, it became more awkward than ever. I just sat there, awkwardly patting the couch nervously with my hands. Kid Ritz was just sitting there, still as a statue. "Sooo..." he started, "what should we do now?" I looked down at my feet. "Well, how about we go for a walk in the park?" He looked up. I continued talking. "We don't exactly have a choice." I sighed and got up, and so did Kid Ritz. I walked to the door and opened it as Kid Ritz walked up. "After you." I said, gesturing towards the door. He blushed and walked out, and I closed it behind us.
The park was lively with activity. Little kids were playing on the playground, and Rageons were walking around and talking about the latest news. Some people whispered and pointed at me. I felt embarrassed and tried to shield my face from them. Kid Ritz saw this and tugged at my sleeve. "Let's go walk somewhere else." he whispered. "Yeah." I said, and we walked off to the fountain. We sat down on one of the benches and watched the fountain in silence. "You know, when I was famous, I didn't have time to 'stop and look around'. Life just...rushes on by." I said aloud. "Huh. It's sorta the same for me when I do interviews." he responds, looking up at the sky. I look at the critters flying around the park, and manage a small smile. "Looks like we have more in common than we thought." I said. "Yeah," Kid Ritz replies, and just for a moment, our eyes meet. My insides suddenly feel bubbly. I dismiss the feeling as we walk around the park more. Before we know it, it's evening. "Well, looks like we still have time to go somewhere else." Kid Ritz says after we exit the park entrance. "How about the city? I haven't been there in while." I suggest. "Yeah, sure, why not?" he says, smiling.
The city was bustling just as the night I had toured it with Velvet. The thought of Velvet sent a surge of loneliness through me. I still hadn't forgotten about her abandoning me. Kid Ritz looked at me. "Is everything okay?" I looked up at him. "Yeah, I'm just thinking of...before I went to prison. You know, when my sister and I were famous. We used to drive through this city all the time! But then we went to prison...and then..." I took a breath to keep my voice from cracking. "And then she abandoned me." Kid Ritz looked shocked at this statement. "Wow, I'm so sorry. That was so not cool of her." He stuffed his hands in his pockets, and we continued the walk in silence. Until Kid Ritz broke it again. "So where do you wanna go?" I looked around, and for the first time on the walk, my eyes lit up. "THERE!" I shouted. I grabbed Kid Ritz's hand and tugged him towards the place. (A/N: It's like Town Square in New York City.) The area was lit up with a bunch of giant screens picturing movies, aspiring stars, and ads. I was ecstatic to see this place again. "Velvet and I used to drive through this place all the time." I said, looking up at the screens. I looked back around at Kid Ritz, and saw that he was also looking up at the screens, mesmerized. "I can see why you and your sister drove through this place all the time. It's beautiful." he told me. He held my hand tighter, and it was then I realized we had been holding hands this whole time. I turned red and tried to hide my face, but then I decided to let it be. For some reason, it felt better this way.
After touring the city a bit more, we returned to the apartment. "Man, I'm beat." Kit Ritz yawned. "Yeah." I muttered, plopping myself down the couch. "You want to stay here for the night?" "Sure." he said, sitting down next to me. "You know, Paige was right. We did have fun..." I opened my mouth to respond, but he was already asleep. I stared at him for a moment, then shook my head. It was not going to happen. We were just going to be friends...
