After a couple weeks of stressing and panicking, midterms were finally here. Every prodigy had their thinking cap on, rushing to their various sessions. Sophie, on the other hand, dragged her feet on the way to Telepathy. Despite Keefe's explanation, Sophie wasn't too excited to see Fitz again. Not to mention Tiergan. Sophie still felt ashamed in front of him, and she wasn't too confident in the essay she had written up. Sophie had smudged runes all over her paper from falling asleep while writing it the night before.

Sophie managed to drag herself to her session on time. She handed her essay to Tiergan, who immediately began reading, before taking her seat facing Fitz.

He took a deep breath. "I don't know if I'll be able to get in, but I'll try." Fitz closed his eyes and placed his hands gently on her temples. After a few minutes of long, awkward silence, he broke away, upset. "What do I say?" He said in a hushed whisper, hurriedly glancing at Tiergan.

Sophie shook her head. "I don't know, I don't even know how Mr. Forkle gets in. But if you did it once, I'm sure you can do it again a different way."

Fitz sighed. He hesitated before trying again. This time the awkwardness only lasted a couple seconds. His eyelids fluttered open, revealing shocked, beautiful teal eyes. He smiled. I'm in.

Once all the midterms were over and Sophie was home, she finally opened the Black Swan's note. She hadn't opened it earlier, only wanting to focus on studying for midterms.

She opened it warily, not fully up for another adventure.

It read:
"A possible threat has been halted,
And a meeting with you must be consulted.
Meet us under that starry sky
When the moon makes the tide rise,
We'll be waiting, no lie."
Sophie looked at her calendar and put a coat on. She had somewhere to be at nightfall. "

--------------------------------------------

Sophie tread on the grass, gazing at the stars. It brought back memories of the time she bottled Quintessence with Dex and the other time with Fitz.

"I don't think they're here," Sandor said, with a worried look on his face.
Then the ground underneath them gave way.

Mr. Forkle stood surrounded by Dwarves. "Good job," he told them before they left to close the hole.

"We have a lot to talk about, Sophie."

"What happened? You said something about a threat."

"We encountered the Neverseen a little while ago at Mt. Everest. I had wanted to recruit you and your friends, but I was overruled in that decision. However, the incident proved my point. We need you on board."

Sophie shook her head. "I don't understand. I do everything you want."

Mr. Forkle smiled. "I think you understand."

"You want me to join you officially." She paused. "When?"

"Now."
