As the seasonal depression gets heavier, as the weather gets colder, I'm reminded of how today is just today and how sometimes, tomorrow can really wait.
But what can't wait is me, me for you, and you and you.
My hands in yours, your arms around me, my hair is tangled and messy and the sleep is still heavy in your eyes, your body has barely woken up but you have no problem holding onto me, and I have no problem curving myself into you.
This morning’s love feels like a blanket over us, a weighted quilt woven when our chests touch, where our hearts and our love mix.
Can we lay here just a bit longer? Before the chaos of the day pulls us apart from each other and refuses to let us hold hands and hold each other all day. You put your hand up to my cheek, my gaze softens evermore while looking into your eyes; sometimes I swear I can call myself a prophet, the way I see our future in your eyes, the way you fully open yourself up to me, the way I feel like I’m walking through a hallway of our memories and sometimes I scare myself…thinking that its really 50 years from now and I’m reliving a memory of our past, of our past love, our young love; it makes me blink to reset myself into our present, our present love. Tomorrow can wait on us, I promise.
Let tomorrow wait, let’s enjoy today.
I love being able to lay here with you, I get to enjoy your soft skin against mine, your hands along my body, your soft soul exposing itself to my heart and my hands. Have I ever known a soft love like these?
The dog scratches at the door, and Im pulled from my trance, soul searching within your gaze, I’m brought back down to earth, and I smile at the thought of it.
I don’t have to even dream of you for you to be here. To be real, I just have to enjoy you, cherish you, and take care of you. I get to do that, for you, for us.
