Tw: mention of abuse.

The midday sun poured through the office windows, casting harsh rays that danced across the polished wooden desk. Andrea's brown hair pulled back in a neat bun, her eyes squinted as she focused on the screen of her laptop.

The blinds, half-drawn to provide a semblance of privacy, did little to block the glare, leaving the room bathed in an unflattering artificial light. The air was still and heavy, with a lingering scent of stale coffee mingling with the faint aroma of leather.

With a sigh, Andrea read the email from her father.

"Urgent Meeting" it read in stark, unyielding letters.

Her stomach churned with a mix of anxiety.

Richard Herrington, CEO of Herrington Corporation.

Andrea's heart dropped.

The thought of facing Victoria again sent a shiver down her spine. The last evening, a clandestine encounter in the middle of nowhere beside an abandoned building, had left her deeply unsettled. It left more questions than answers.

What could Victoria be doing Jade, in that shady, desolate place?

Jade.

Andrea desperately wanted to trust Jade, to believe her explanation, but a lingering doubt gnawed at her. The image of the abandoned building, the same one from the mysterious photos she'd found, refused to leave her mind.

Something felt off.

The imminent threat weighed heavily in the air, a tangible force penetrating Andrea's senses, giving her chills. Amidst the fear, a peculiar allure tempted her, a captivating melody wrapping around her heart, compelling her to explore the uncharted realm of danger.

Andrea felt like a moth to a flame. She couldn't resist the exhilarating rush of danger, where the lines between fear and excitement blurred. A primal instinct within her, the one she never sought after, urged her to embrace the unknown, to dance with the shadows that ensnared her.

While a voice of reason in her mind whispered to retreat and seek comfort in the familiar, the allure of danger proved too compelling. Its irresistible call echoed, promising an adrenaline rush only found in the heart of the storm.

The thrill of danger acted like an image of a powerful drug, coursing through her veins, distorting her senses, and temporarily freeing her from the ordinary. It became a gateway to a world where rules blurred, and boundaries were pushed.

With every step into the unknown, Andrea felt the fear fade, replaced by anticipation. Her heart thumped in excitement, propelling her forward. She was a moth drawn to the flame, a dancer intertwined with shadows, a seeker of the thrill that only danger could offer.

And the encounter she and Maverick had to witness only added more fuel to the flames.

She has to know what's going on.

Andrea's gaze fell on the papers scattered across her desk. With a sigh, she gathered them into her bag, the laptop following with a thud. Ignoring the mess, she strode towards the door, her steps fueled by an unspoken urgency.
