Chapter 1: Nightmare, The first hero

Well, here I am. Sitting in some run down restaurant eating a burger. It's not even that good, but it's still food. Sorry let me explain, My name is Jackson Davis, I'm 25 years old, and living by myself in DC. I have a decent paying job. Am I happy, surprisingly. Yes, I try and that's enough for me. I finished eating my crappy burger, and left the money on the table.
"Have a good day" I heard the restaurant owner call out to me
"Yeah, you too" I replied.
I just couldn't wait to get home and go to bed. I wasn't sure if I should take the fast path because it cuts through a dingy alley, and I'm not in the best area. Or take the long walk home. I took a few seconds to make my decision, and decided to walk into the pee-smelling alleyway. I walked through the alley until I got stopped by a guy bigger than me, holding a gun, (Because of course)
"Oh come one dude, not again" I said to him in an annoyed voice.
"Give me your wallet and your phone" he said to me in a disgruntled voice
"I don't have a phone, some other guy jacked me last week"
"Pussy" he muttered to me while taking all the cash in my wallet.
I let out a large huff as I trudged past him and walked out of the alley. I was only 5 minutes away from my house when something in the sky caught my eye. It was a purple comet that was coming towards the earth, I decided I'd take a look. So I began running towards where it was gonna land. I guess I wasn't the only one who decided to have a purple filled shooting star experience, because some lady was also there. The comet was getting closer and closer, until I realized it was gonna hit directly where the woman was standing. And it was a good 10 seconds away from hitting the ground. My body began to move before I could think, I jumped in the way of the lady and pushed her out of the way. Right as the comet was about to hit me in a flaming ball of purple, it paused right before it hit my head, and just fell to the floor. The lady had an understandable reaction to almost getting hit by a comet and screamed while running away. However, I decided to take a better look at this purple rock of magma, because I heard a strange buzzing noise coming from the inside of the rock, I grabbed it (stupidly) and burnt my hands, so instead I stomped on the rock and shattered it. To my surprise, A purple wring came flying out of the rock, and floated up to my face. In a gutteral voice the ring said
"I am agony, and your action, saving that woman has made me choose you as my champion"
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Put me on, and I will show you"
"I'm talking to a ring right now"
Agony floated down towards my finger, and put itself on me. In an instant, I felt a rush of power as a gold and ret suit formed around me, along with a purple cape.
"You will be my champion"
"And we will do great things for this planet"
"Woah woah woah, I just saved some random lady, and now I'm your quote-on-quote champion"
"For millions of years, my kind has chosen to bond with species all across the multiverse, to give them superhuman abilities, and give us an enhabit for us to thrive"
"So you're telling me there's a world out there filled with different color rings that give people super powers?"
"No, we take many forms and many shapes. There's a version of us that takes the form of a black goo"
"That's creepy"
"Very"
"What type of powers do I have?" I asked Agony excitedly
"That, I cannot tell you. You must find out for yourself"
I did what most superheroes do, I shot my hand out and a purple tendril came out of my wrist and swung me onto the wall of a nearby building
"This is my favorite part" I heard Agony snicker to himself I was screaming trying to figure out how to stop swinging.
So I put my hand down and fell, crashing to the floor. "Let's try this again" I said to myself
"Go web!" I shouted, moving my hand forwards again, nothing happened though
"Fly!"
Again, nothing happened
"Up up and away web!"
Nothing!
"Shazam!"
And again, nothing.
"Go!"
"GO!"
"Go web go!"
"You look stupid right now"
"Oh, shut up"
I tried a different finger position, and the purple tendril shot out of my wrist again.
"A-ha!"
I said to myself as I began swinging up, I let go and swung with my other hand, and I began getting the hang of it. I swung all the way up to the roof of a building, and began jumping from rooftop to rooftop. I let out a loud
"WOOHOO" as I jumped off the final building and swung back down to the floor.
With a grin on my face, I decided I should probably get home and practice more later.
"Hey Agony how do I take this suit off?"
"You can't, it's permanently stuck to your skin"
"WHAT"
"Just kidding, just tap the ring 3 times"
I did what he said, and the suit instantly shrunk into the ring itself.
"That's so cool"
I said to myself happily. I walked back home, but on my way there, I saw the guy who robbed me earlier tonight. I wanted to hide, but he saw me. Instantly his bored face turned into an evil smile as he saw me. He began walking towards me,
"Agony what do I do?"
"Don't bring me into this"
"How helpful" I said sarcastically.
"Hey who are you talkin' to," said the robber.
"You got a phone? So that means you lied to me!"
"dammit" I said to myself
"Let me show you what happens to people who lie to me,"
He pulled out his gun, and began hitting me with it. I got knocked on the floor, and decided to put on my suit. He got caught by surprise and fired his gun at me. I held out my hands in fear and closed my eyes, I waited, and waited for the pain. Or a feeling of dripping blood. But I didn't feel anything. All I heard was an audible gasp from the robber. I opened my eyes and saw a glowing purple translucent shield in my hands, I blocked the bullet. In a rush I knew instantly how to use the shield as if I trained to use it all my life. I let go of the shield and it went away. I tried to think of a weapon to use, to fight the robber. And a purple bow staff formed in my hands, "Perfect" I said to myself. As I wacked the robber over the head with it. Causing him to fall to the floor, unconscious.
"Well, you seem to have discovered the main part of your powers"
"So I can create weapons and tendrils?"
"Mainly"
"Well what else can I do" I said pointing a finger at myself.
Which caused a mini purple blast to hit me right in the face
"OW"
"you can also do that"
"No kidding"
I took the suit off and walked home. And finally had a good night's rest. In the morning I checked my laptop and saw that a clip of me fighting that robber went viral.
"Agony are you seeing this?"
"Looks like they like you"
"I guess I should get to work"
                         5 months later
I heard my alarm go off, so I got up, shut it off and checked my new phone. I saw a clip of another brand new superhero tying up some bank robbers in black ropes of some sort.
"It seems like more and more people are becoming superheros since me, have you had anything to do with this Agony"
"No, unfortunately not, this is some other kind of element that's causing this"
"Hey Agony, I'm gonna need you to give me the coordinates of some of these heroes"
"Why's that?"
"When you gave me these powers, you told me that I was gonna do great things for this planet. But I'm starting to think I can't do this alone. I'm gonna gather the best of the best, and make a team. Together, we're gonna really do great things."
