Chapter 3: The first Mission

Hey, it's me again Jack, I've been looking around for heroes to build a team, and I think I just found someone new. I've been following him around for a while now, he calls himself the sapphire knight. There's not much info on him, a very mysterious individual. He just got done riding around the city on his motorcycle and parked it by a bush to hide it, before I jumped off of the building and did a pretty awesome superhero landing. He seemed to have noticed me already because he instantly pulled out his batons and raised them at me.
"Hey, relax! I just have a proposal for you" I told the blue and black armoured man. I couldn't see his face through that mask of his, but I could tell he was intrigued.
"I've been creating a team that's full of people like you"
"Would you like to join?" He gave a long pause, and I was starting to get worried. Despite what I said, I really needed this guy on my team.
"No" he said.
"Why not?" I demanded
"I'm not going to some comic-con with a bunch of spandex wearing nerds"
"We're legitimate superheroes!
"Legitimate superheroes don't wear costumes people can see from a mile away"
He pointed at my gold and red outfit
"My bright costume doesn't really matter since if I tried to sneak on someone my power would already alert them" I said creating a ball of purple ball of energy.
"So, you are a superhero?"
"Yes!" I said exhausted already
"I still don't care, I work alone"
"Are you just as boring as every other loner hero?" I said
"Fine, what if I did join, to have you leave me alone?" He said agitated
"Deal!" I said enthusiastically
I tapped my ring 3 times and my suit shot into my ring, I held out my hand for a handshake
"Since you're officially part of the team, I won't hide my identity from you, my name is-"
I got cut off by Sapphire's word
"Jack?!" Instantly the Knight's expression went to pure shock.
"Justin!?" He took off his mask, and I was right. My childhood best friend, was my new teammate?
"Woah, I was not expecting that" Agony said as if he was watching a TV show
"How do you think I feel" I said to him.
"Huh?" Said Justin obviously confused
"Oh yeah, right I forgot to explain. I kinda talk to my ring. Don't ask, it's a long story"
"Well, anyways" Said Justin cutting through the awkward silence
"Is there a place where the team meets?" He asked
"Oh yeah!" I said putting my palm to my forehead
"I can't believe I forgot, we meet a the old lumber yard this Thursday"
"A superhero team, but you have meetings at a closed down lumber yard?" He asked
"No, that's not happening. Come bring the team by my estate, you know where it is already" he said
"Are you sure?"
"Of course, you're my best friend"
"Well, see you then" Said Justin as I put on my suit and swung out of there.
(Thursday)
I started the day by calling the team, and letting them know the change of location.
"I will text you the location" I repeated for the 4th time to Hypno
"What'd you say"
"I WILL TEXT YOU THE LOCATION"
"Ohhhh" Hypno said through a cloud of smoke
(I was face timing him) he had black hair and wore a white outfit, green gloves, boots, and a green mask that only covered his eyes
"Dude, seriously, right before a mission?"
He coughed and said
"Relaxxxxx A little bit didn't hurt anybody"
"Why did they legalize that crap" I muttered to myself as I ended the call.
I quickly called Zip-shot He wears a dark blue and teal costume with a dark blue mask, and teal eyes on it. And I guess I caught him in the middle of something, because when I called I saw him in the middle of a fight, He stuck out his finger and in a short second the guy he pointed at got launched into a window. He then set his phone up on a ledge of some sort and simply said
"Watch this" he said, he pointed his finger at a robber and an invisible blast hit him, launching him through a window. He charged at the other robber, saying
"You're next" and proceeded to get punched,
"... Excuse me?!"
"That hurt my feelings" As he proceeds to backhand him into the wall.
He walked back to the camera and said,
"So what were you saying hermano"
"We're changing the meeting location, I will text it to you, alright?"
"Está bien"
"Honestly, I have no idea what that guy says half the time" Said Agony as I hung up,
"Aren't you literally from an entirely different planet?"
When the time finally came for the meeting, I caught Zip-shot on the way over there also swinging
"You totally stole my thing hermano"
"I was doing this first!"
"No es verdad"
"No one understands what you're saying"
"No me importa" I sighed as I landed at Justin's "Estate"
Because that thing was NOT an estate, That was an entire mansion! I already knew this, but I heard Zip-shot mutter a cuss of shock in Spanish. As we came to the front door. Hypno landed right behind us, falling to the floor as he landed. Zip-shot laughed at him as Hypno got up, pretty embarrassed.
"Nice landing" Said Justin sarcastically in full costume.
"This is your house?" Asked Hypno in awe
"Who else's house would it be" Asked Justin
"Come in, I'll show you the base" We all followed him into his "Estate" Hypno asking dumb questions along the way
"Do you have the Monalisa?"
"No"
"What about a suit of samurai armour"
"No"
"What about-"
"Hypno!" I said, cutting him off
"Please, stop."
We entered the basement and instantly our soundings changed, the room was filled with computers and blinking lights, there seemed to be a chamber all the way in the back. And there was a door that led to a training room. Right in the center of the room was a table and a projector like an office building
"Have a seat," Justin said. I began to sit down until I got stopped
"Not you, you're the leader, you go ahead and present." I began to argue
"But I thought-"
"Nope, for some reason all the rich guys of the team fund it, but aren't actually the leader. Batman, Ironman, you get it"
I let out a sigh and walked to the front of the room, I plugged my computer into the projector and booted up my slide show. Justin threw me a laser pointer
"Thanks" I said sarcastically
"Since apparently this is an episode of the office now, I'm gonna present you a wonderful creation in Google slides"
I clicked a button and the first slide popped
"Welcome to the vigilante society"
And as soon as I said that, the room shook and I heard an explosion go off in the distance (Because that seems to always happen)
"Slideshow over"
I said as I slammed my computer shut. The team rushed out of their seats as an alarm went off in the room and began playing a police scanner recording
"12/4 we have sightings of an armed bank robbery at the bank of America in Arlington. SS 18.2-58"
Justin typed in a code on his wall and two doors instantly opened with a mechanical whir. One garage door and one door on the roof, letting the rain in.
"Well don't just stand there!" Said Justin as he hopped on his mortal cycle.
Me and Zip-shot swung through the hole in the roof followed by Hypno who flew behind us. When I was in the air I caught the eye of Justin blasting off on his motorcycle. We all made it to the bank at the same time. Me, Zip-shot, and Hypno all landed on the roof. Followed by Justin who used his grappling hook to climb up. We all looked into a window that was on the roof, and saw 4 guys all loaded up with weapons, and one other guy in the vault hauling the money, strangely he didn't have any weapon on him.
"Alright so what's the plan?" said Hypno at a very unnecessary volume.
"I'll jump through the glass window on the roof, and I'll do my best to distract them, while you" I said pointing to Zip-shot
"And you" I said pointing to Justin sneak up on the 4 guards and take them all out.
"Got it" replied Justin
"This will be easy" said Zip-shot
"Well what do I do?" Asked Hypno
"I'm getting there, can you just let me talk?" I replied.
Hypno muttered something about being sorry
"Hypno you'll take out the guy hauling the money, last"
"Does everyone got that?" I said, to a response of nodding heads.
"Alright let's do this." I dove through the window Immediately the 4 guards began firing at me. I created my shield so the bullets didn't hit me. Zip-shot came down slowly, attached to one of his tendrils. He quickly grabbed the two guards in the back, covering their mouths so they don't make any noise, then zipped back up (pun intended) and tied them to the roof. Justin threw a bolas, that that tied the legs of one of the guards. The final guard tried to shoot me but I grabbed his gun and threw it to the ground.
"Hey man" he said in fear as I slowly kept walking towards him.
He tried to push me away, but instead of moving me, he pushed himself 2 inches backwards as if pushing against a wall. I created a gauntlet and knocked him out with a single punch. Justin and Zip-shot both jumped to the floor,
"Now time to see how Hypno did" I pushed open the door, and instantly got launched back by a blast of yellow electricity. I tried to figure out what just happened but I was covered in rubble, my ears were ringing, and my vision was extremely blurry.
"OW" I heard Agony exclaim.
"And where have you been" I muttered through the pain
"Watching, obviously. It's really interesting" I let out a sigh and tried to push the rubble off me, but I felt too weak from that blast. In the distance I heard Hypno scream. And now I started to process what happened. The guy we sent Hypno after alone had superpowers, and pretty powerful ones at that. I tried again to lift the rubble to save Hypno but I couldn't budge it.
"This is getting sad, let me help you out a bit" In an instant I felt a surge of power, all the pain went away, and I felt stronger than ever. I launched all the rubble off me, and cleared the rubble off Justin and Zip-shot.
"Gracias amigo" Said Zip-shot as I helped him up. We both grabbed Justin and he gave us a quick
"Thank you" as he grabbed his batons. My burst of energy was dying down as I said to Agony
"why haven't you done that earlier?"
"Because that would be too convenient, and it takes a lot out of me"
Now that we were all gathered up, we matched through the doors again, and took a look at the situation there was a guy in silver and yellow suit, flying in the air staring down at us, letting us look at what he did to Hypno. He was on the floor, half his suit was burnt and he was twitching, yellow sparks flying off of him.
"What did you do to him?"
"I only blasted him with 2000 volts of electricity, where's the harm in that?" He said with a maniacal laugh afterwards.
He held both of his hands up, and shot down a giant ball of electricity. I closed my eyes and clenched every muscle in my body, but I didn't feel anything, I opened my eyes to see the smoke clearing and a blue holographic shield bubble protecting us. Justin looked at me, and gave me a nod. As soon as the shield bubble wore off, Zip-shot instantly hit him with an invisible blast that knocked him to the floor. I jumped after him with my bow staff and hit him over the head with it a few times before he caught it, then Justin threw a few bombs at him, then proceeded to kick him in the chest while he was stunned, Zip-shot held out his hand and created a double sided spear, he jumped into the air and and spun it, but the Lighting guy caught him by the neck and threw him into the wall. Justin lunged at him, but then got grabbed by his cape and slammed into the floor. I created my shield to brace for the lighting guy's attack, but instead of attacking me, he grabbed Hypno and flew off. I wanted to go after him, but that guy was way too strong for me to fight him by myself. I went and helped Justin and Zip-shot get up. I told them, that the lightning guy took Hypno. We all knew we couldn't take this guy. So we went back to base in silence. We lost, and there was nothing we could do about it.
