I hate this.
I hate the way that I look. I wish that there was some type of technology that could allow me to switch bodies with Beyoncé against her will. Not only does she have gorgeous curves but she knows how to move her body in ways most girls can't. She could get hit by a bus and still look #flawless. I wish that was me...
"Ariana, are you finished?" asks my sister Ariel. She stands behind me and we both look at each other in the mirror. She wraps her arms around me like she always does, to comfort me. "Are you questioning your beauty, again?"
I nod, trying so hard not to burst into tears. I must look silly but it's so hard for me not to criticize myself. Look at me, I'm disgusting.
"I wish you could see how beautiful you are, like I can," she whispers in my ear. No, my sister and I aren't fucking each other. We're just really close.
I grab my brush from the edge of the bathroom sink. I hand it to her and she gladly accepts it. "Can you sing my favorite song?"
"That's a silly question. Of course I'll sing your favorite song." She taps the top of the brush as if it were an actual microphone. "Is this thing on?"
I chuckle at her lame joke. Only Ariel would know how to make me laugh at a corny joke.
She dramatically clears her throat before belting a high note.
"I can feel it from the start
Couldn't stand to be apart
Something 'bout you caught my eye
Something moved me deep inside."
She steps on the toilet seat that was down, to point at me. That's my que to join in, I guess. I pick up my electric toothbrush to sing the next verse.
"Don't know what you did boy, but you had it
And I've been hooked ever since, yeah."
We sing together:
"I told my mother
My brother
my sister and my friends
I told the others
my lovers
both past and present tense."
I let Ariel take the next verse by herself.
"Every time I see you everything starts making sense, yeah."
I applaud her beautiful vocals that never let me down. She bows a couple times before stepping down from the toilet.
"Thank you. I'll be here until I'm eighteen," she jokes. I laugh and then wrap my arms around her neck.
"Your here with me until I take my last breath," I mutter.
"Don't say that dark shit. You'll make my red hair turn black." I let go and we laugh in unison. I didn't get the joke but I had to laugh. It's the only way I make it through the day.

"Mom! The bus is here," Ariel calls upstairs. I throw my bookbag over my shoulder and head out the door so my mom and Ariel can talk about me behind my back. I know that's what happens because I have twin senses. I sense that shit.
I look at the bus stop and there's kids standing there, still. There's no bus, what the hell?
Ariel shuts the door behind her and smiles at me. I scrunch up my eyebrows. "Where's the bus?"
"What do you mean? It's coming."
Am I going crazier than I already am?
"You told mom the bus was here but it's not."She leans closer to me as if she's telling me a huge secret. The last time Ariel did this, she burped in my face. And it was those long, stinky burps.
"I didn't want mom to see my boyfriend before I introduce her to him," she explains. Wow, she has a boyfriend and didn't bother to tell her twin sister until now. I didn't know we could keep things from each other or else I would've never let her give me that Brazilian wax.
We start heading to our bus stop. "Who's your boyfriend?"
"Beck," she says before giggling. Beck is cute... Who am I kidding? He's hot as fuck. Long hair, a nicely toned body, and he has that bad boy type attitude- God she's lucky. Well, they're both lucky because Ariel is sweet, adorable, and beautiful. Not saying that because we're twins, it's just that she's so colorful- which makes her a hundred on a scale of one to ten.
Once we reach the bus stop, Beck embraces Ariel, leaving me to feel very awkward. He kisses her on top of her head which makes my stomach do a backflip. Aw, man, now I want a boyfriend.
"I missed you so much," Ariel whines before kissing his chin.
"You saw me this morning when I stayed over last night," he chuckles. Ariel's eyes widen and so do mine.
"Wait a second, you were in our room last night?" I ask, folding my arms over my chest.
Beck opens his mouth to say something but no sound escapes. Ariel's smile on her face evaporates.
"Yeah, he was. I got him into our room once you took your medicine."
"Mom will freak the fuck out if she finds out," I state the obvious.
Ariel gets out of Beck's hold and gets all up in my face. She has her cute little puppy dog face on; my weakness. "Please don't tell mom. I'll do anything, I swear."
I bite my lip. This may be the last time I'll ever get to blackmail my sister, so this better be a good one. There's a lot of things I could make Ariel to do: wash my dog, find me a boy toy, buy me a milkshake every day...The possibilities are endless.
"Convince mom to not make me see a shrink regularly," I blurt out. It's not a bad one, considering I hate talking to a grown adult who just gets paid for saying things my mom already tells me. I know it's risky because my depression is worsening but it's a risk I'm willing to take.
Ariel let's out this frustrated noise that sounded like an alien giving oral. "Fine. I really shouldn't do this but I don't wanna let my eighteen years of never getting in trouble by mom, to end."
I smirk and then turn my back on the couple. I guess things will only go up from here. At least I hope so.
