suna

➹ i watched as koizumi finally met kita, stepping aside to give them some space. being a good friend, i took the opportunity to talk to kita about her and the book club.

naturally, he wasn't familiar with her, but he did seem intrigued by the idea of the club.

observing them engaged in conversation, somewhat secluded from the rest, i couldn't help but wonder about the exchange.

koizumi sported a wide grin, chuckling at something kita had said. what could they be discussing? was kita particularly funny? i found myself wishing i could hear her laughter up close-

"earth to suna!" atsumu's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. clearing my throat, i refocused my attention on the blond. "what?" i responded, slightly annoyed.

we were all gathered in the backyard, with the twins indulging in alcohol while aran and i refrained. atsumu chuckled, "ginjima mentioned you brought a girl." he teased.

"i did. so what?" i raised a brow, deliberately avoiding stealing glances at koizumi and kita to maintain a sense of nonchalance.

"oh, nothing. it's just that we never see you with a girl. you don't talk to girls, man." atsumu continued teasingly.

he was right. the only females i conversed with in my life were my mom, grandma, little sister, and koizumi. "if you brought a girl, why isn't she with you? she could be with some guy right now." osamu chimed in.

she is with another guy, mentally scoffed, but refrained from saying it aloud. "well, she's talking to our lovely team captain over there." aran interjected, beating me to the punch.

dammit. aran was remarkably observant. i couldn't escape his notice. "did kita just steal your girl, suna? that red-haired chick?" atsumu's voice rang out in the midst of his drunken state, and i cringed internally.

i disliked dealing with atsumu when he was drunk. he turned into a whiny baby, voicing exaggerated sentiments. thankfully, his twin wasn't quite the same as he tended to get emotional and teary when intoxicated.

"firstly, koizumi isn't my girl. secondly, i'm pretty sure they're just discussing the book club." i clarified, hoping to dispel any misinterpretation.
