suna

➹ bringing koizumi to the city's largest bookstore seemed like the perfect pick-me-up.

"pick out three books you want to buy." i casually suggested as we stepped inside. my offhand comment made her gasp.

"are you serious, suna?" her surprise barely concealed behind her hand.

i didn't want to admit that i was essentially spoiling her, so i pushed, "hurry up before i change my mind."

"okay!" her reaction was pure excitement, as she squealed and dashed towards the romance section.

i hurried to follow her. it felt like guiding a child while shopping at a store like miniso.

taking koizumi book shopping had been my immediate thought on how to lift her spirits. knowing her love for books, i brought her here with the intention of cheering her up.

but, of course, i wasn't going to let her squander her money. it was my treat.

as koizumi delved into the sea of books, her smile remained radiant, and i couldn't help but chuckle at her sheer delight. it was clear she was thoroughly enjoying the experience.

her excitement peaked when she found a book, eagerly showing it to me. "i haven't read this one yet." it was a title completely unfamiliar to me; after all, i wasn't much of a reader, especially when it came to romance.

"and it's enemies to lovers— yup, i'm getting this." she exclaimed, holding the book with fervor. confused, i questioned, "what the heck is enemies to lovers?"

"it's a romance trope. my favorite." she explained. i nodded along, though the concept still seemed rather confusing to me.

it seems like koizumi and i might not fit the 'enemies to lovers' trope. i never really considered her an enemy, especially since we've grown closer since making that deal.

initially, when we reconnected, we did have our moments of bickering, but it was more lighthearted banter than anything close to considering each other as enemies—

what? koizumi and i are not even close to being in a romantic relationship. maybe it could be categorized more as 'enemies to friends' rather than 'enemies to lovers.'
