➹ you know what terrifies me the most? meeting new people, especially meeting a lot of them. today marks my second attempt at this, considering the first one didn't exactly go as planned...

thanks to suna's help, i've tried to improve my image, hoping people have forgotten about the "vomit girl" incident from that one party.

i'm really hoping that today's gathering goes well and that people actually show up. with narumi no longer by my side after our fallout, i feel jittery. suna wasn't present either since he had volleyball practice.

my stomach is grumbling nervously as i wait at the library. the moment the bell rang, i bolted out of the classroom and sprinted to the library.

"u-um, is this the book club?" finally, our first attendee! and oh my, she's adorable! short black hair with microbangs, and she's pretty petite.

"yes, it is! please, take a seat!" i exclaimed, feeling a bit too thrilled now that the first member has arrived. "i'm shima aiko! a first-year." she introduced herself with a bow.

"welcome to the book club, aiko." i replied, reciprocating the gesture. it feels so good to finally get started!

as we both awaited the arrival of others, i turned to aiko and asked, "so, what kind of books do you enjoy reading?" aiko seemed startled by my sudden question. aw, she reminds me of myself back in middle school.

"i like reading classic literature." she replied shyly. i couldn't help but look at her in admiration. "me too. well, you're in luck because the first book we're reading is a classic." i informed her.

aiko gasped in relief, "that's a relief... i thought we were going to start off with something heavy." she chuckled nervously.

classic literature can be quite dense, but i assumed she mostly read within that specific genre, so i don't blame her for feeling apprehensive.

"yaho!" a guy's voice caught my attention, and to my delight, a guy with blonde hair had arrived—my second attendee! i recognized him. he was the one who told me yesterday that he was interested in joining.

"you made it, hayashi-senpai." i said, getting up and walking over to him. hayashi yuto, a third-year and former captain of the soccer team before an injury forced him to quit.
