Atreyu's Call & Lena's Doubts | CHAPTER 15
Atreyu's Call
Atreyu sat in his darkened office, staring at the phone in his hand. His mind churned with the fury that Sheila and E’s actions had ignited. It wasn’t just about what they’d done to him. This was personal. They had endangered the life of his unborn child, the love of his life, L's sisters, and his future family. Atreyu’s fists clenched around the phone as he dialed L’s number.
The line rang once before L picked up, his voice gruff and straight to the point. "Atreyu."
Atreyu leaned back in his chair, his expression hardening. "L, I’m sending some of my most trusted men to help you track down Sheila, E, and... your twin sister. We’re going to find them and make sure they pay for what they’ve done."
There was a pause on the other end of the line before L spoke. "I appreciate it, but why the sudden change of heart?"
"They endangered not only your sister’s, my future wife, and unborn child... I’m not letting that go unpunished. I won’t let Sheila and E get away with this," he said, his voice low and filled with conviction.
L nodded, his jaw clenched. He could feel the weight of Atreyu's words. The two men, despite their differences, had a shared goal now—bringing down the people who had wronged them.
L voice softened, a rare hint of understanding creeping in. "Treecie’s been doing her best to help us remember more details, but it’s slow. They covered their tracks well."
"We don’t have time for slow," Atreyu replied, his fists tightening, while his jaw clenched as memories of the accident flickered through his mind. "They used my innocent love along with my unborn child as bait in that car crash. They nearly took away my future, and for that, they’re going to pay. This isn’t just about revenge for me. It’s about making sure they can’t do this to anyone else ever again. This needs to end, and it needs to end soon," Atreyu growled.
"I hear you," L replied. "Send your men. We’ll coordinate and take them down together."
Atreyu nodded even though L couldn’t see it. "Good. Make sure your people are ready."
The conversation ended abruptly as both men steeled themselves for what was to come. For Atreyu, there was no greater motivation than protecting his family. And this, this mission of revenge, was just the beginning.

L's Discovery
Treecie, sits quietly by the window, "I remember bits and pieces," she said softly. "I was drugged most of the time, but certain things stand out... an old signpost by the docks, the smell of the sea, something about the way the trees swayed in the wind. It’s not much, but I hope it helps."
L glanced at her, his expression softening for a moment. "It’s enough," he said, his voice calmer. "We’ll find them."
Three weeks passed as they combed through Treecie’s fragmented memories, following every clue, however vague. Atreyu’s connections and resources proved valuable, and after three weeks of tracking, they finally pinpointed the location.
As the fourth week came around they reached the compound. L stood before the charred remains, his hands trembling with fury. The air smelled of burnt wood and ash, and the ground beneath their feet crumbled as they walked through the debris.
Treecie stood beside him, her eyes wide with shock, tears forming in the corners of her eyes. =
"This... this can’t be it," L muttered, his voice shaking with disbelief. He knelt by a pile of blackened rubble, his hands digging through the ashes, searching for anything that could give them a clue.
