Hea opened the door... and her heart sank.
Eric beside her gasped in horror.
It only took a second for the woman to see red.
Hea was beyond outraged.
She ran up to the woman and landed one punch to her nose.
She would've continued if not for a strong arm pulling her away.
"Ms. Hea, while I understand your anger right now. You are on American grounds and will be faced with severe consequences if you commit such." Someone said quietly to her in Korean.
She turned back to face a police officer who just spoke.
Eric must've called them earlier when they couldn't locate Jimin.
Jimin...
She turned only to see the man blankly staring ahead of him. Eyes void of any emotion.
"Jimin..." Hea whispered.
She inched closer, diverting her attention from the lady, as she felt her heart break with every step.
"Love?" She called but the man wouldn't look at her.
It was like he wasn't there.
He looked broken.
Battered and bruised. Blood all over his body. Hair in a mess and his clothes-
She couldn't believe what they had done to him.
She couldn't believe she let this happen to him.
She was a horrible wife.
Hea took off her blazer and placed it over his bare chest.
Jimin flinched and it broke her heart even more.
She knelt down and removed the ropes, freeing his hands and legs.
"Love? I'm here. Hea's here." She whispered but the man wouldn't look at her.
"Ma'am. Let's get him to the hospital."
She nodded taking a deep breath. Jimin needed her now. Even if she wasn't there, she needed to be there now. She had to put the guilt aside.
As Eric stepped closer to him, Jimin's started hyperventilating but not a word came out his mouth.
"Let me carry him Eric, just get the car."
She picked up Jimin, whose body went limp in her arms and walked out.
The car ride was silent. The only thing heard was Jimin's breathing.
That was at least some peace of mind for Hea. That he was alive and breathing.
She stared at him, multiple thoughts running through her mind.
How could she let this happen?
She promised herself to protect him and she had broken it.
She was still in disbelief.
She should've trusted her gut and declined the offer weeks ago.
Her attention was shifted when they reached the hospital and Eric helped to get some doctors seeing that Hea wasn't in any mood to speak.
Jimin was passed out and the doctors told Hea they would deal with his bruises but until then she had to wait outside.
Hea sat on the bench with her head buried in her hands.
Eric sat next to her and wanted to say something, but he knew there was nothing he could say to soothe the woman.
So instead, he went to the cafeteria and got them both coffees.
