Fading

Skin pale as the stars on a nightsky, eyes dull as sand, his body broke  down like it was never held together, falling from the tall building he closed his eyes tightly, feeling the air ruffling his hair as the ground came closer and closer till finally, with a crash he hit it, he could feel as his body bend in unnatural ways, his knee bone sticking out, blood spattering everywhere, he could hear yelling and a woman  screaming in terror as the blood from his mess of a body stuck to her white dress, the colour from her azure eyes faded, perhaps she saw a quide to the trail that led the boy to do what he did.

For days, all the woman could see was the young boy falling, his body broken, the terrifying screaming of the boy as a crack sound could be heard, the boys skin ripping apart, bones sticking out, and as the boy took his final sore breath, a spark, a glimpse of light could be seen in those empty eyes. It reminded her of a light that could be seen in foster care childrens eyes when someone was finally willing to adopt them, a certain feeling of hope, hope that she'd only been able to feel once in her life, but that was almost immediately taken away from that seven year old that she once was.

Lost in her toughts, she didn't notice numerous text messages lighting up her phone screen untill she heard a familiar ringtone, startling her and snapping her out of those toughts.
She looked at the contact name "Maya Woods (therapist)" Right. She'd skipped a therapy session because she couldn't walk out in the streets without hallunicating a young boys dismembered body on the ground.
With shaky hands, she slowly picked up the phone, pressing the green button to answer. She could hear a concerned "Hello, Lucy. Are you alright? I saw the news, that must truly be a disturbing and traumatic experience, would you like to talk about it, i could schedule you in for today." The woman's, Mayas voice to be exact was confident, but also caring in a motherly way, a way that sometimes made Luciana, which was Lucy's real name tear up.
"I- uh im busy. Busy uhh-  reading. Yeah." She stuttered a quiet response, Maya could tell she wasn't speaking truthfully.
"Lucy darling, i know when you're lying to me. It's okay, i can make you an appointment for next week as well, to give you some time to process?"
"Y- yeah sure. Sounds good." Lies.
"Alright love, i'll text you later on to inform you the time of the appointment."
"Yeah okay, bye." She quickly shut off the call, staring at the white walls surrounding her for a moment, before throwing her phone at the one in front of her, immediately bursting to tears as the phone hit the wall and a crack sound could be heard, it brought her back to the moment when the boy hit the ground, a terrifying smile carved on his pale face.

She laid there for hours, sobbing, she didn't even think it would be possible to cry this much anymore, she was certain that she'd already shed the tears that one could be cursed with, but the sight of that boy triggered something inside of her, something that she never knew was there, but truky it had been lurking in her mind, shedding her soul in pieces, quietly eating her alive before finally making an appearence. And that part of her, after hiding in the shadows for almost two decades, that part enjoyed the sound of the young boys flesh and soul ripping apart and of him screaming as well as  the sight of his skull cracking open, his body bending, limbs being torn apart and the feeling when the blood splattered on Lucianas tan skin.
But she didn't enjoy any of that, did she? She tought to herself. She despised the side of her that did even tho she'd only seen it now. Or had that side showed before? Perhaps it was there when her grandfather shot his brains out, just hiding behind the window feeding on ones grief, or when her bestfriend of ten years, Mia had hung herself in Lucianas closet, was it there, lurking from behind the closet, getting pleasure from the blood  dripping from Mia's eyes and the sound of Lucy screaming at the 911 operator, or when- she was snapped out if her toughts when she heard the sound of an alarm clock, she checked it out, her phone was ringing from an alarm that was set at exactly 17.59, but she couldn't recall setting that alarm, so why the hell was it- but then she remembered. Right before the boy had fallen from the building, landing in front of her, she'd checked the time, it had been exactly 17.59. A minute later a scream could be heard and she had felt the blood flying on her face.
Her already sickly looking face went pale.

The next day she woke up, not being able to recall when shed fallen asleep, but for the whole day she did nothing but stare at ceiling, and check her phone a few times. This went on for aix days, till she got a reminder on her phone "Maya" it read. Right, the appointment.

"So Lucy, how do you feel the incident affected you?"
Maya's voice had always been so comforting for Luciana ever since she was 15 years old and saw Maya for the first time, she couldnt believe it had been six years since the two met.
"Lucy?" She zoned out.
"Take your time to answer." This sentence snapped Lucy awake, or atleast that's what it seemed like from Maya's perspective, truly Luciana heard some kind of voice, but it wasn't Mayas, it was like...

The side of her that she would do anything to remove.

Anything.

Lucy looked around, examining her surroundings when soon her gaze locked on a box cutter on Mayas table, she almost jumped towards it, grabbing it and running to the other side of the room, panting as she held it to her neck.

"Lucy! No please-"

Maya tried to stop her, but it was too late, her eyes were locked on Lucy's and as the soul faded from Lucy's eyes, a light could be seen in them. Maybe it was the light that faded from Maya's eyes at that exact moment as she watched in terror, not being able to move a muscle as the blood splashed from Lucy's neck as she fell to her knees, her eyes rolled back and soon enough, she was gone.
