Henry
Once Henry and his mother were both out of Holly'S, his mother suggested it would be nice to go walk around and meet some people.
They had turned left, continuing down the road. More people could be seen now. This town, even if it is relatively small, everyone greeted each other as they passed, this town almost felt like a big home.
Everyone here seemed to know each other. Maybe Henry could get used to a town such as this one. Every time they passed by someone, they either gave a quick hello, welcoming them, or just a simple smile towards them.
They met many diverse peoples. Somehow, Henry knew deep down he would come to love it here.
A middle aged couple came up to them, "Hello, I don't know if you know us, but we are your neighbours." The man said with a friendly smile.
"No we didn't," Beamed Henry's mother " it's nice to meet you." She held out her hand for them to shake it. "We would love to have you two over tomorrow for a welcoming supper!" The women spoke up. "There's a couple things we would like to tell you about the town! Stories and such!" She smiled before letting out a nervous laugh.
"Of course, we can come around tomorrow around 6pm if that works for you?" Henry's mother replied. "Yes that would be perfect! Our house is the white one beside yours. The house number is 401." She ended.
"Alright I'll remember, oh and by the way, what are your names?"
"I'm Micheal Murphy." The man answered, "And I'm Anne Murphy!"
Mother introduced them to me, "This is my son Henry, and I'm Elena, Elena Roy. We should be getting back home, but we'll see you guys tomorrow!"
"Okay, bye now!" Anne replied with a smile. They turned around and went inside a bookstore. Henry and his mother also left and headed home.
——Time Skip——
Once back at home Henry went and sat on the couch. Opening his cellphone to see that his best friend, James, had texted him.
From James:
Salut Henry, j'espère que je ne te manque pas trop là-bas !
(Hey Henry I hope you're not missing me too much over there!)Henry laughed before responding,
To James:
Haha, tu commençais à me manquer mais plus maintenant, j'espère que tu ne te feras pas un nouveau meilleur ami sans moi au Québec ! (Haha, i was starting to miss you but not anymore, hopefully you dont make a new bestfriend without me in Québec!)Putting his phone away, Henry heads into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water. But out the window he sees something. But as soon as he takes a step towards the window, it disappears. Henry rubs his eyes with his fists to double check. "Maybe I was just hallucinating... or something.."
Trying to convince himself, he goes upstairs into his room. Hearing the water running from the bathroom. "Must be mom in the shower."
Right as he stepped into his room, he saw the same shadow figure outside his window, quickly he rushes towards the slightly open curtains to get a better look. But once again, as soon as he makes it to the window the shadow disappeared.
He heard the shower turn off, he walks into the hallway, and right after his mom steps out in her pyjamas. "I'll go to sleep early tonight dear, you should too." She said as soon as she saw Henry in the hallway. "Alright mom, goodnight." His mother heads into her room, closing the door behind her. Henry goes back downstairs. To check if the windows and doors were locked. After that, he walked back upstairs, ready for bed.
Henry changed into his pyjama pants and before going into his bed, he kneels down beside his bed. Praying. Thanking, for this new opportunity.
Once he was done he got under the covers, but then he saw it again. The shadow. He quickly got up and ran to the window. This time, the shadow stayed there. Henry tilted his head in confusion. Was it someone who was going to rob them? The shadow man almost made him feel comfortable. Why would that be? Isn't it creepy having a shadow man watching your house?
Something in Henry told him to wave, so he did. And now it was the man who tilted his head, clearly puzzled as to why he was waving. But nonetheless, the man gave a short, quick wave back. "This is awkward." Henry thought before closing his curtains and getting back under the covers of his bed.
Although the man did seem kind of familiar, since Henry didn't know anyone in town he couldn't even try to guess who it could be.
Henry closed his eyes trying to fall asleep, but he heard little taps on his window. "What the- I'm on the second floor who could possibly be tapping at my window??"
Logically, Henry knew it was probably the man that was seen just minutes ago outside his window. So he stood back up and went to the window. Fully opening the curtains, there he was, the man.
"What are you doing at my window?!" Henry almost screaming. "I just... I just wanted to say hi?" The man said in a low voice, but making it sound like a question.
"Well... hello, now can I know what you're doing?" Henry angrily asked. "I would tell you if I could, but uhm... fuck.. I need to go." And just like that the man quite literally disappeared in a blink of an eye.
"What just happened, how did he vanish just like that?" Henry was bewildered. He didn't know what to think. How was that even possible? "Okay.. maybe I'm just really really tired..." He turned around and once again, went back to his bed.
This time successfully falling asleep. No tapping at his window, no one standing in his room watching him sleep.
Nothing.
