In the bustling halls of True Cross Academy there's an outstanding duo roam— you and Ryuji Suguro, also known as "Bon". The two of you have been friends since birth, your parents also being childhood friends which naturally led you two to becoming friends as well. Of course the two of you are friends with Shima and Konekomaru but you and Bon are especially close. Practically attached at the hip for as long as anyone can remember, and over the years you and Bon has only gotten closer.
However, beneath the surface Ryuji holds a secret— he's fallen for you. Of course he's never told you, not because "what if's" plague his mind but because Bon knew you don't feel the same.

The memories of the two of you sitting on one of the dorm rooftops after the exwire entrance exam. You were talking about the mission itself and how you were both happy that you both passed. Then suddenly, you said; "You're like a brother to me Ryuji," with the warmest smile he's ever seen plastered on your face. Your words hit him hard and made him realize he will never have a chance with you. But even after that his feelings never faded. No matter how hard he tried, everything always came back to you.

You're everything to Ryuji. You're the love of his life. He loves everything about you, your eyes, your smile, your comforting presence, your comforting touch- everything. Yet he knows he can't have you. Not romantically anyway.

On one faithful day you and Bon had been sent to an apartment complex for a mission. According to Mephisto it was supposed to be a simple mission but things did not turn out that way. So far the mission had been extremely rocky to say the least. From being bombarded with coal tars as soon as you entered the complex to a door being locked and you and Bon having to break it down, to encountering multiple low level demons you had to get rid of, and that's before even getting to the actual problem.

It feels like you and Bon are searching everywhere but can't find the demon you are looking for. You both are beginning to lose hope. But you both know giving up isn't an option, so you both continue on in hopes of finding the demon soon enough.

You and Ryuji are standing in front of a door to another apartment inside the complex, your left hand on the door handle. You take a deep breath and mentally prepare yourself for what could possibly be on the other side.
You carefully open the door and push it inward. You're met with the entrance hall which is connected to the living room. None of the lights are on. Inside the living room you can vaguely make out the silhouette of the demon you had been looking for, its back facing you and Bon. It looks like it's eating something, something wet and sloppy but also crunchy?

At first you and Bon just stand there in confusion but as you look at the demon and listen to whatever it's eating you realize it's not eating something but rather someone. The wet and sloppy sounds coming from the demon is from eating and consuming the innards and organs of a human body. The crunchy sound is bones being snapped and broken in half to make smaller, more digestible pieces. Like the bones are some crunchy snack, the organs are the main course and the bones are dessert.

As the realization hit both of you, you became shocked and a feeling of disgust started creeping up inside you. You take a step back out of shock. But in doing so you accidentally step on a piece of rubble on the floor and let out a surprised yelp, catching the attention of the demon.

Mephisto had told you and Bon that the demon you need to get rid was a low level demon, but when you actually got to it and started fighting it became clear that was not the case.

The demon is at least mid level, possibly even higher. It's terrifying. Not giving either of you time to think in between attacks.

The attacks are fast too, and it is practically impossible to land an attack of your own, and at the same time keep track of each other.
Suddenly the demon went into hiding inside the dark apartment, it is most likely hoping to ambush the two of you. Trying to kill two birds with one stone.
