Persephone grew up just as Newt had hoped. It turns out that without the horrible memories of her past she was the kind of person that could lit up a room with their presence. But of course, that did not change the destructive nature of the Obscurus.

At first, Persy had to stay in Newt's suitcase, it was her own magical world where her new family could give her the care and love she'd never received before, but eventually it became dangerous for the other creatures. Then she destroyed the house, forcing the family to move, so Newt spelled one of her bags so could stay there, even though her parents made sure it was as 'homey' as possible it still felt lonely. She felt safer with the creatures than she did with people.

Finally, thanks to her father's dedication, her mother's support and even her brother she gained control after many destroyed houses and visits to St. Mungos. Although Persephone knew there was still the risk of the obscurus could poison and kill her, just like it had her biological father, but at least this way the only person that was harmed was herself.

Persephone was starting her third year at Hogwarts while her brother was starting his fifth, the O.W.Ls year and he was not about to let anyone forget it and just that summer Nate had received his prefect badge for his house.

The day they were supposed go back to Hogwarts Persy came down to the kitchen only to be greeted by her brother's rambling about being Hufflepuff's new prefect.

"Bragging again dear brother? How not very Hufflepuff of you." She teased.

"And you are judging, again. How very Gryffindor of you little sis."

"I'm not judging, I'm simply pointing out your annoying habits."

"Enough you two." Interrupted their mom, Tina, amused at her children's antics. "Are you excited to go back to Hogwarts?"

"Yes!" They answered. "Someone has been receiving letters all summer from a certain boy." Nate said and smirked at his sister's glare.

Then Persy gave him a fake smile and said and his smirk flattered. "Awww you didn't tell me you had a boyfriend."

"Funny, I meant you. Wanna tell us what's going on between you and Harry Potter?"

"There's nothing going on. He's my friend."

"Friend." Nate scoffed. "Sure he is."
The girl rolled her eyes but didn't say anything. She actually had feelings for Harry, but even if they were reciprocated they couldn't be together, it was too dangerous. She was too dangerous.

The four Scamander's arrived to the platform 9 3/4. Persy and Nate said goodbye to their parents and entered the train. Nate went into a compartment with his Hufflepuff friends and Persy found her friends in a compartment, but they were not alone. Inside was a sleeping man with ragged clothes and a few scars on his face.

When she opened the compartment door she was immediately greeted by Hermione's crushing hug. "Persy. It's so good to see you."

"It's good to see you too Mione." She smiled. "Hey Harry, Ron."

"Hey Persy, we missed you at Diagon Alley." Harry said, blushing slightly.

"Yeah my dad ordered all our things from the catalogue because he found a new creature and we were helping him." She beamed because she loved all magical creatures. "That's the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher?" She asked nodding at the sleeping man.

"Professor R. J. Lupin," whispered Hermione at once.

"Well, I hope he's up to it," said Ron doubtfully. "He looks like one good hex would finish him off, doesn't he? Anyway ..." he turned to Harry, "what were you going to tell us?"

Harry explained how Sirius Black had escaped to go after him and then the talk diverted to Hogsmade.

"Do you know much about Hogsmeade?' asked Hermione keenly. 'I've read it's the only entirely non-Muggle settlement in Britain –'

"Yeah, I think it is,' said Ron in an offhand sort of way, 'but that's not why I want to go. I just want to get inside Honeydukes!"

"What's that?" said Hermione.

"It's this sweetshop," said Persy, she looked around at Harry. "Won't it be nice to get out of school for a bit and explore Hogsmeade?"

''Spect it will," said Harry heavily. "You'll have to tell me when you've found out."

"What d'you mean?" said Ron.

"I can't go. The Dursleys didn't sign my permission form, and Fudge wouldn't, either." Ron looked horrified.

"You're not allowed to come? But – no way – McGonagall or someone will give you permission –" Harry gave a hollow laugh. Professor McGonagall was very strict. "– or we can ask Fred and George, they know every secret passage out of the castle –"

"Ron!" said Hermione sharply. "I don't think Harry should be sneaking out of school with Black on the loose –"

"Yeah, I expect that's what McGonagall will say when I ask"

"But I doubt you'd be in much danger, I mean, not any more than in Hogwarts. It won't matter if you're inside or outside the castle, teachers will be looking after you like hawks." Argued Persephone.

But before Hermione could reply the train started slowing down. "We must be nearly there,' said Ron, looking at the now completely black window. "Brilliant, I'm starving, I want to get to the feast ..."

"We can't be there yet," said Hermione, checking her watch.

"So why're we stopping?"

Persephone, who was nearest the door, got up to look into the corridor. The train came to a stop with a jolt causing her to fall onto someone, and it was just her luck that that person was Harry. Both momentarily forgot that something bad was about to happen as they blushed furiously. Thankful that they could barely see through the darkness, Persy muttered a 'sorry' and got off Harry's lap.

"D'you think we've broken down?" She asked.

"Dunno ..."

"There's something moving out there," Ron said. "I think people are coming aboard ..."

"Quiet!" said a hoarse voice suddenly. Professor Lupin appeared to have woken up at last.

There was a soft, crackling noise and a shivering light filled the compartment.

"Dementor" whispered Persy.

Professor Lupin nodded and said, "Stay where you are."

The door slid slowly open before Lupin could reach it and the dementor entered.

Persy felt emptiness fill the compartment as a feeling of sadness overcame her, her breathing became heavy. In her case loosing control of her feelings was a death sentence for the people around her. So she closed her eyes and focused solely on her breathing. Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, exhale for 8.

4 in... 7 hold... 8 out... 4 in ... 7 hold ... 8 out... 4... 7... 8...4... 7...
