Well this is awkward. I had Justin on my left, Alec on my right, and Ryan across from me. That wasn't really that bad except the occasional glares the boys would pass each other. I can deal with that. But with Justin's parents across the table from him and my mom next to Ryan there was absolutely no conversation... Only silverware screeching against the plates the French salads were placed on.

Kyla and Je N'ett were absolutely no help and I couldn't help cower in the presence of Ryan's mom. She was beautiful. Her eyes matched Ryan's caramel brown, but her hair was blond instead of light brown like Ryan's. It defiantly was a dilemma sitting in her presence.

Alec's parents had decided to come later even though I still wasn't sure why they were here in the first place. Any of them I mean. What made them so special?

My mother cleared her throat causing me to stare terrified. She stood up and raised her glass, tilting it slightly indicating the amount of wine she had drunk. I began to chew my bottom lip, the rusty taste of blood dripping in my mouth.

"I as Autumn's mother am so surprised at y'all." She slurred. I sucked in a breath trying to determine to date.

Justin's father began to speak until his wife quickly caught cut him off. "You have to understand the difficulty of handling Jace. He is very rebellious and rambunctious. He refuses to listen."

I furrowed in my eyebrows confused. They were late because of dog? Well I wasn't quite sure Jace was a dog; he sounded like one at least.

"I realize that Helen but we agreed." My mother attempted to raise her voice but stumbled over feet.

"And I wasn't expecting you to be drunk Claire!" Helen spat, pointing her finger, a scarlet color filling her cheeks. Justin attempted to intervene but Alec and Ryan held him down. Leaving me alone I quickly stood up and slammed my fist on the table. Everyone became silent, starring at the sudden sound. Even the service expressed a sense of strain as they refused to move.

"Helen you must forgive my mother for her unaware state but as of today my parents would be married 23 years. You just have happened to have come at a very unfortunate date but you must understand the stress my mother feels. I, truly am not offended by your poor choice in time or missing beings but none the less do try to keep an open mind. My mother probably will not be feeling a hundred percent tomorrow but I do believe an apology will be sent to you when she is able. Now if y'all will excuse me I believe my mother is in need of some rest." I finished my speech stern and cued for a butler to come assist mother.

Depressing as it may seem, I felt much after my sudden outburst. The tone of voice and unspoken words drilled into my mind finally free released the burn from my body.

James, an older butler placed my mother's arm over his shoulder and began to stumble away with her. I quickly caught up, taking the other arm. Justin walked behind me, waiting for me to stumble so he could take over. But I didn't. I don't stumble. I'm perfect. I haven't, don't, and never will mess up. I wasn't raised to be a failure. No mistakes, perfect every time.

We dropped off my mother in her room, where James insisted he would take care of her with the help of Wendy, his wife and our seamstress. I nodded and looped my arm through Justin's as we began towards my room.

We passed the wall where we had snuck out of the castle, causing me to pause. Justin raised his eyebrows but I shook my head, continuing my way. I was grateful for Justin's rare silent state currently. It gave me time to think.
