Chapter 3 Princess

The sun streamed through my ruby silk curtains blinding me in my sleep. I felt my interlaced fingers with someone else; I assumed they belonged to the body spooning behind me. I cuddled closer to the body embracing the warmth it provided. A phone vibrated on the bedside table indicating a text had just been received. I moaned when the body started to move away.

He chuckled in a sexy deep voice, tucked the blanket closer to me then kissed me on the forehead. "See you later Autumn." he said in a deep husky voice causing me to whimper even more.

I heard my door open and close, then he was gone. I laid on my back looking at my celling trying to piece last night together. Something was different about Alec but I couldn't place my finger on it. And he's so sweet and romantic and understanding and caring and he's just Uh! I mean he's everything I want to fall in love with. He's perfect! But then there's my prince business... I wish I was just a normal girl but I'm not. No, I'm the perfect little girl I'm expected to be. I wish I could be free from all this! My life would be so much easier.

After a while I sat up, stretching my arms in an odd manner. Sliding my feet in to my pink bunny slippers with a golden crown on top, I lifted myself off the bed and headed towards the door. I stopped by the fire place admiring a picture of me and my dad when I was five. He was holding me on his shoulders, as I grasped his hair for dear life. I smiled to myself recalling...

"Autumn!" my dad called from the bottom of the hill he had just rolled down. I shook my head, sucking my thumb, still grasping my snow white (now muddy brown) bunny in the other. I didn't want to go! The hill was ten times bigger than me and I don't want to get my shirt dirty. Mother said that was unladylike.

My dad trudged back to me squatting in front of me holding my hands in his. "What's up kiddo?"

"I don't want to get my dress dirty!" I said in my childish voice.

My dad chuckled, placing his hand on my shoulder. "Kiddo how 'bout this?" he asked with his bad grammar. "If you get your dress all dirty, we'll sneak back in to the palace and clean up before your mom gets back from shopping?"

I pondered for a moment then took off running until I lost my footing falling back into the mud, I laid there laughing at my silliness until Daddy pelted me with a mud ball in the face. I sat up and glared at him, gathering a handful of mud. I stood up really fast tossing the mud only to have it backfire and crash onto my head. My dad fell back laughing he's butt off. I eventually joined him, laying beside him in the mud starring up at the clouds.

I wiped a tear away as I came back to reality. "Come in" I said answering the knock at my door.

A maid walked in with fresh linens that smelled of strawberry. It was always my dads favorite perfume for my mother to wear. "Forgive my lady but you are requested on the patio this morning." I nodded thanks but continued to stare at the picture.

"Do you miss him?" I think her name was Stacy asked. She paused for a moment then begin to apologize for prying.

I shook my head "It's fine. And yes. I do." Stacy nodded then quickly pulled out a emerald green sundress with pearl lacing.

I nodded undressing, slipping the cotton ensemble on. Stacy pulled out some pearl silk heels to match and a matching bow. She brushed out my hair then pulled it in a ponytail as my curls hung there perfectly. I pondered if I should apply make up but Stacy insisted I didn't need it. I was a bit skeptical of the decision but agreed make up was a no go.
