In the quiet hours before dawn, Lyra Faye found solace in the strokes of her paintbrush, the canvas a silent witness to the rebellion she dared to express. Though Lyra had many friends, she wasn't really one for interactions. Her family wouldn't let her go out anyway, all they wanted her to do was, study, learn, paint, and so on. Lyra was seen as the most perfect girl in her family's eyes, a gorgeous, smart, outgoing, teenage girl. This was hard for her, if she got one thing wrong her family would go bonkers! with one last swift flick of her brush, she puts her pain down and goes to sit on her bed. Lyra was very artistic, her room covered in paintings. She was the typical good 80's girl, unlike her friends, her two closets friends, Sophia Miller, And Luna Tuner, they were rebels. Sophia was quite a beautiful 16 year old girl, she had long blonde hair she always put up into a pony tail, and she loved to wear thick eyeshadow and was fairly tall. She was Lyra's best friend. Lyra knew everything about Sophia's home life. Sophia's parents used to beat her, but now she's never home. Luna on the other hand, she was a brunette who always let her hair loose, she was shorter than the others in their group, they liked to make fun of her for it, you would never see Luna without a cigarette in her mouth, I guess that's what happens when you come from what she calls a "Oppressive atmosphere of her rigid home."
Lyra had many other friends too, such as; Ethan Carter, a promising athlete, everywhere he went, his basketball was with him. Adrian Anderson, he was such a brilliant writer, he carried his journal everywhere, but he'd only ever let anyone read a few pages. Mia Lewis, she was a very rebellious girl, but her family was quite chaotic. Dorian Creed, Lyra's favourite boy, everyone thought him and Lyra were dating, he was a musician and would use his guitar to escape his true feelings. Lastly we have; Noah Parker, he loved books, especially romance ones, he read them to escape the troubles of his life.
"Lyra," she hears from her room, "It's time for dinner sweetie." It was her Mum. Lyra hated dinner time, they would always ask her questions about her school and expect her to anything they asked of her. Lyra walks down the stairs of her two story house and sits on her seat at the dinner table.
"So Hun, how's school going for you? You got any of your marks back yet?" Lyra's Dad asked, he was a successful business man. Lyra's dad was fairly skinny and it looked as if his hair was falling off, he got mad anytime anyone mentioned that, which made Lyra laugh.
"It's been good dad, no I haven't got my marks back yet." Lyra responds coldly, she couldn't go a single dinner without anyone mentioning her school and grades. Lyra begins to eat her food. The rest of dinner goes as usual, parents asking Lyra about her grades, telling her that "if she doesn't reach the expectations or higher, they're getting rid of her paint set." Lyra just rolls her eyes, finishes her dinner and heads back up to her room. After awhile of sitting in her room doing nothing, her telephone begins to ring. Lyra was the lucky one out of her siblings and actually had a telephone in her room, she picks up the phone, hoping it do be one of her friends. And it was.
"Hello?" she asks, her tone being calm and quiet so her parents couldn't hear her.
"Lyra? Hi, its me, Sophia. Listen, we know you're a goody two shoes and all but please, come out with us tonight." Sophia says, in a begging tone. Lyra could hear the others in the background.
"Sophia, you know I cant, even if I wanted to.. My parents would always say no."
"Okay, yes but hear us out, when your parents are asleep, sneak out of one of the windows downstairs," Sophia sounds so desperate.
"I cant, I'm too scared, what if my parents catch me?" Lyra asks her.
"They wont, just please? for us?" Lyra sighs as Sophia says this, she thinks for a minute.
"Fine. But if my parents catch me I swear I will kill you!" Lyra whisper yells into the phone.
"Awesome, okay! Leave at 10:50, your parents could be asleep by then right?" Sophia asks her.
"Yes, they should be."
"Magnificent! When you're out, look for Dorians mustang, Luna and I will be there. The others will be with Ethan and meet us at the place we're going, pack a bikini, towel, and spare clothes. I'll see you then. Love ya!" Sophia hangs up before Lyra could respond. Lyra was feeling quite nervous, it was 10:30PM currently, which gives her 20 minutes to prepare.
Once Lyra's finished preparing, she checks the time. 10:50, her parents where already asleep. Good thing they we're deep sleepers. Lyra walks down stairs, looking for a window that she can leave out of, She begins to open it, although her parents room is far away from the window, she doesn't want to take any chances. Lyra slides out the window. Leaving it opened slightly. Lyra see's Dorian and the others in his mustang and walk over to them. Sitting in the passenger seat.
