SHUT UP & DRIVE
The Starry Racer roared his engine, winking at Caspian through their windows that sat side-by-side on the start line. The brunette sucked in a breath and scowled at the driver; he hated how he found that attractive. The flag boy caught his attention out of the corner of his eye as they raised their checkered flag, their short pink hair breezing in the wind.
Two other cars were lined up against his own and his opponent's– The Violet Reaper and Bear Cub. Caspian pressed his foot down, his engine roaring underneath him, his shiny red car glistening in the overhead lights. He could hear his one and only friend scream from the stands, cheering his name.
"Let's go, Lost One, Let's Go!"
A small smile crept onto his lips as he sucked in another deep breath and calmed his nerves, his hands gripped his staring wheel. He closed his eyes, centring himself. The comms rang out with the two familiar voices of the commentators of the entire competition.
Caspian never thought he'd be a drag racer, always sticking to the rules but, yet, here he was. About to kick The Starry Racer in the ass and leave him in the dirt.
He opened his red eyes.
"Welcome back, ladies, gentlemen and those in between, to yet another Ultimate Race!" Oceana, the younger sister of Caspian's best friend, called out enthusiastically. Her voice caught everyone's attention as they rang out a chorus of mismatched yells and cheers. "Let's get on with it before the police arrive, shall we?"
"Tonight, we have a spectacular line-up for you," Chaos, the second commentator and platonic partner of Ocie, introduced with their usual orotund tone. "In the green car, Bear Cub!" Everyone cheered as the driver roared out their engine. "Then, in the purple car beside them, The Violet Reaper!" The purple car roared louder, with a somewhat darker tone to it. "Then in the red car, Lost One!"
Caspian smirked as he roared his own engine in response, harmonising it a little bit to make himself a show. He side-eyed the driver beside him as the blackette looked over, a small smirk of their own. The brunette could never tell if the driver was just teasing or was actually checking him out half the time.
